Part Number For 2002 Protege / Protege 5 Shop Manual Here!

In my earlier post, many people asked for the part number to the 2002 Protege / P5 shop manual. It's 9999-95-017B-02

Your dealer should provide you with one for about $180 Canadian (someone can do the conversion, ) but beware, Mazda has them on backorder, so put in your "chit" now, or you may be waiting a LONG time! (Up to 4 months!)

Like mentioned above, the manual covers all 2002 model year Protege's, and for those of you who like to skip the whole post and read the final line, the part number is, once again, 9999-95-017B-02.

Hey Maxx!! Now that you're a bonified mazda employee, do you think u can get the manuals on the cheap? Then I could fire off a cheque to you and u can fed ex it on up to me!!

(or take a road trip up good ol' highway 1 (or is it 2?) and hand deliver it :) )

Jason,

I'll see how much I can get them for, and let you know this weekend. I work Saturday, and providing I'm not out with friends I'll get on the PC and let you know. The only problem is the orders. They're backordered until June at the moment... I'll see what I can do.

I just checked with the local dealer and they said it was $140 US. They didn't mention availability though. Check E-bay though as there are people on there that sell nothing but shop manuals and car parts. I almost bought one last fall for our 2001 and wish I had. The top price was only $90.

That would kick ass man! I don't mind the wait, especially if it's a good price!

Okay, so how about this:

A bunch of us do a "chip-in" buy of one of these ridiculously expensive manuals. And I tell you what, let's say it's $140 US - 7 people each chip in $20, and one guy gets the privelege of scanning, zipping, and emailing all the pages. Maybe that guy doesn't have to pay, or keeps the original manual for his effort. :)

Could probably be scanned into a PDF document, if not, scanned into light-resolution .jpeg or even .gif could easily be emailed a bit at a time.

Hey - I'm serious about this!

hihoslva April-13th-2002 06:29 PM

At a thousand pages, I guess I'm not that serious ;)

Just gave my local dealer a call, and they said there is no such Shop manual, and the part # does not exist. Is that part # only for the Canada dealer computer base?

Your dealer is full of crap. I called mine and gave them a number and they looked it up.

Yeah,

I ordered the Electrical Diagram Shop Manual from Freeman Mazda in Irving for $45. The mechanical is separate and is $125.

sandman April-15th-2002 09:57 AM

Maxx, any luck?

Maxx Mazda April-15th-2002 03:32 PM

Jason,

I was swamped with cars on Saturday, and didn't get a chance to ask the parts guy. I work tonight, so I'll ask him then for a cost, and a time frame. I most likely won't be back on the computer tonight (I'm at school now,) but if not I'll be sure to post something tomorrow afternoon letting you know the outcome.

Thanks Nick!
