P5 Updates by Mazda?!?
 

I keep hearing rumors (started in Road & Track Magazine) that Mazda my be introducing a turbo charged P5 later this year.

Has anyone here heard anything.

I love the P5 and will be buying one this summer, but if a more powerfull version were on its way then...

Hey, if I could change anything, I would offer a Special Edition or GT version of the P5 with:
-Leather
-Stiffer & Lower Suspension
-17" Wheels &
- MORE POWER & TORQUE(my only real complaint about this car)

If more power came about, I would much rather it be normally asperated or even supercharged - much nicer delivery than turbos.

Say, does anyone know of any superchargers for the P5?

But those willing to wait will soon get another chance to buy this car, or one much like it, in a Mazda showroom. Impressed by customers' enthusiasm — and by reviewers' disappointment in the lack of power — Mazda has decided to produce a new version that it will unveil this spring, perhaps at the New York auto show next month. The car will get a new name and, praise the engineers, a turbocharger to give the engine enough juice to match the suspension.

No word yet on how much more the MP3's successor will cost than the $18,500 Mazda charged for the 2002 model. But in light of the traffic jam among under-$20,000 performance cars — think of the Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec V, Honda Civic Si, Ford SVT Focus, Dodge Neon R/T, Toyota Matrix XRS and Pontiac Vibe GT — a big price increase probably isn't in the tea leaves.

The Rumors are corrent either a 2.0L or the new 2.3L will be the powerplant for the next MP3. No idea about the P5 though, if you chech www.miata.net they have good info.
