P5 one-touch windows

Does anyone else wish that 'all' the passenger window buttons illuminated??? What about having a auto down button for the passenger side window?? Has anyone trying replacing the unilluminated ones with illuminated ones? What about replacing the one passenger up/down switch (on the drivers side) with a auto up/down switch? Is it possible? Help please.

I'm not too concerned about illuminated window switches, since the driver's door window switch is illuminated. But my Viper alarm system provides me with ONE-TOUCH auto UP and auto DOWN, as well as auto UP when the alarm is engaged. This is a handy feature, for sure...

Regarding "auto down" for passenger's side ...

I think that feature serves primarily for toll-paying and other situations where the driver needs the window to go all the way down conveniently. I've never seen a car with the auto-down feature on windows other than the driver's window. As for fitment of switches, I'll let someone else answer that part since I have no experience with that ...

Good luck!

Well I know VW Passet, Jetta and golf have an option if you turn the key to the right all the windows go down. I think that would be cool in the summer before getting into a hot car. But the alarm option would be much easier.

The reason I thought the 'one-touch down' window switch is a good idea is because I don't have a/c and I found that I would constantly roll down the side/passenger window to help with air flow. It would really help to have a window switch to do that for me.

As for other cars with auto-down switches on other doors, my Toyota 4-Runner has Auto up and down, on both front doors. Both door switches for the two windows are labeled AUTO and are illuminated. I have also had two Mercedes-Benz cars with the key-operated windows, ala Jetta, and also one-touch up and down on the front windows. This feature is more common than some may believe....

My guess is that if you want the passenger side to go down with one touch just like the driver side you will have to put a driver side window motor in the passenger side. I saw something similar to that in a mustang.

I don't know about the P5, but in the sedan the switches on the driver side are all part of a big switch block, not four individual switches, so I doubt that the auto-down version of the switch could be retrofit for other doors.

Having said that, you might be able to open the switch blocks and swap internals...

My bet is that no one is going to bother trying. Go on. Prove me wrong. :D

I think there would be more people that would just like to have REAR WINDOW SWITCHES on the REAR doors!.....much less ones that will auto up and down.
