P5 and MP3 prices you guys bought....

I love the style of the P5 and the MP3... I was wondering how much $ did you owners get these for and also what package... like bodykit, spoiler, rims...

Thanks!

Out the Door....all fee's included....I gave 16.8K for my wifes...and 19K for mine......

you really don't need any extras...they come pretty well equipted just bone stripped....there are really very few options available....auto tranny, sunroof, 6 disc in-dash CD changer, side air bags (in the US), ABS (which requires side air bags for some reason), a cargo net, an air deflector for the moonroof, polished wheels vs the painted alloys, floor mats.....that about covers it.....they come stock with a LOT that you have to upgrade to a "package" to get on other cars. :)

first, i doubt you will be able to find a new MP3 as those were a limited production run.

second, as far as pricing goes, it will depend on what dealer you decide to go to. a fair price can be found through edmunds.com, which usually comes out to about $300 or so above true invoice price. (go to the site to find out what that is)

third, options.
bodykit: there is no factory body kit option for any levels of protege, yet.
rims: again, unless you opt for the dx or lx level of trim, there is no option for rims. on the protege5 you have the option of getting polished as oposed to painted rims.
spoiler: for the protege5 there is no spoiler option from the factory. for the sedan levels, a spoiler is standard on the ES level and optional on the lower levels.

for a complete listing of available options and trim levels your best bet is to go to www.mazdausa.com

Interesting.

Well, is the MP3 a complete model of its own, or is it just an upgraded version of another car?

I like the body style of the MP3 also, but I really dont need that player. so i was also kind of wondering if there is another model that has the same body style as the mp3s?

thanks very much,

The MP3 is a Protege with factory and aftermarket bolt-on parts. A Protege ES can be upgraded to MP3 looks/performance with factory and/or aftermarket parts. Here is a sample of some of the parts available from the dealer. http://www.mazdastuff.com/directory.cfm?CategoryID=196

I bought a 2002 Midnight blue Protege 5 with ABS & side airbags, moonroof, polished wheels, floor mats, and 5 speed for $17,006.00 at 1.9% for three years Last year my wifes car the dealer lost $95 because they went past there hold back a 2001 Protege ES with ABS & side airbags, moonroof, floor mats, and an A/T for $16,255.00 at 0% for 4 years interest. What is holdback you say? The dealer gets 3% of the base MSRP back at the end of the year from the Manufacturer. ;)

I bought my Prtoege 5 for a little over $15800 including destination. They sold it for $1 over invoice. I think I paid like $16500 with tax and title. Not a bad price for what I got.

Hey dude,
I bought mine for $16,999 at Hennessy Mazda in Morrow. I see you're from GA also, so if you're ever down on the southside let me know and I can let you check out my ride and test it out. I work in Clayton County so I'm there alot. I like your Prelude it looks sweet. I've been checking into aftermarket support for the P5 (I've only had it two weeks) and I'm pondering the options. I spent alot of $$$ at NOPI buying parts for my last two cars and this one looks to be no different. Right now I'm looking at wheels and coil-overs and I'll probably have them both before too long. Anyway hit me up if you wanna hook-up sometime....good luck with your purchase!

We paid $16.2K and with our trade in and cash down we got them down to $8000

Personally I don't think that the MP3's are really worth the extra money. Don't get me wrong I LOVE them. I was looking into buying after my boyfriend purchased a 2002 Es. We thought it would be cool if I got the MP3. There is one here in Salem, Oregon but they have jacked the price up so high it's rediculous. The dealer mark up is around $3000.00. They want almost $24,000 for it which is stupid especially after comparing my boyfriends Es to it. The MP3 does not come with a sun roof or cruise control like the Es does. The MP3 is basically the low end modle of the Protege with lots of modifications. Sure the MP3 has a few extra engine mods, a stereo system, and look WAY better, but for about the same amount of money as purchasing the MP3 you could upgrade and Es that will have the sun roof which is a must for me :). My boy payed around $19,000 for his Es and that's adding in the money they tacked on from what he still owed from his trade in.

I paid sticker price for my MP3...18,500 I love it but like everyone said you can upgrade the ES model and have almost the same car. I love your Prelude! :D Looks TIGHT! If you look in my sig I have some pics posted of my car. If your curious to see it ;)

blackmp5 February-15th-2002 10:20 AM

$18,300 (US) plus tax/title.

Moonroof, Side airbags, ABS, Alarm, Polished Rims, 6-disc Changer and Cassette, Wind deflector, Cargo Net, 5spd

DOCP5 February-16th-2002 07:27 PM

hey everyone, just picked up my P5 today, drove it off the lot for $13,899 plus tax etc... Bone stock except for floor mats but thats ok, it wont be for long (exhaust, audio system, etc....) :blue:

ChrisR February-16th-2002 10:52 PM

Wow, I thought I got a good deal on my P5, but I'm second guessing that after reading some of these prices. I'm getting mine with auto trans, sunroof, ABS/Side Airbag, and wheel locks. MSRP is around 19,350, and I'm paying $18,425. This is below the Edmunds TMV.

Maybe because I live on Long Island, not too far from NYC? If anyone is from my area, I'd be curious to hear what you paid.
