P5 20K mile tune up?

Hey everyone, im about to him 20K miles on my p5! woohoo! i dont know why im happy.....eitherway, whats recommended i hear a lot of conflicting things. ive obviously been changing oil religously so lets not get into the oil debate. But theres talk of spark plugs stuff like that. I plan on putting in new plugs + wires anyway so haha, lets not get into a debate about plugs & wires either. But is there anythig else i need to do? thanks all!

look in the back of your manual.....there is a maintenance schedule there. look to see what is RECOMMENDED.....

Plugs don't need to be changed until 30k miles. And the wires shouldn't need replacing until much further down the road.

Not to "debate" - it's just that you'll waste your money - especially on wires.

Can I ask why? Unless you have a modified ignition system, what is the purpose of expensive or upgraded wires?

Understand - replying "I just frigging want 'em, I don't expect any performance gains, and leave me the hell alone" is a perfectly valid response.

As part of the tuneup, clean or replace the air filter.

Absolutely! Changing the air filter is a HUGE thing with these cars, I believe.

In fact, I just did a mileage test before and after a filter replacement. Depending on conditions, I'd recommend changing the air filter more often than 20,000 miles - 10,000 would be good, IMHO.

I listed my test results in this thread

hmm, nice, about replacing the air filter, i did, i bought a intake off ebay, its actually pretty decent, just normal intake parts/tubing that you can get at any performance shop. Install was easy and the sound is nice. Accelleration feels kinda wierd though, its not necessarily a good thing and getting one of the rubber hoses to clamp securly onto the throttle body was kinda a pain. But its cool i guess and looks pretty clean.

Then tell NGK to make them for the FS engine, because there's NOTHING DECENT BUT MAGNECORS!

theman, why do you only think MAGNECORS is the best???? i mean yes the sparco are alittle long, big deal it doesn't get in the way. only reason i would shell out an extra 20 bucks is for a good reason, and i don't see any yet

so b/c its a new company that puts out a cheaper product than the rest its crappy. yes they did misadvertise on the 9.2 and made in usa, assembled in canada, but its still not enough to convince me that the more expensive wires are better. its like saying the intake or muffler on ebay is crap b/c its some guy selling them really cheap and they might not fit perfictly. and the more expensive name brand stuff is better. i just want some actual evidence that the sparkco wire are crap. i mean did they fall apart on someone, did they not work, did someone pay for them and not get them. thats the stuff i am looking for. i say the ngk plugs(OE) suck b/c mine looked like charcoal at 10K miles and was getting crap for gas milage. if i had alot of money i would buy the most expensive just to say that i had it but i don't have money so i buy whats good but cheap.

Do whatever you want with your car!!! :) All anybody asks is that you be honest with your results and post any good or bad experiences. I AM CANADIAN!!! (I also watch STREET CENTS) and I know that more expensive does not mean better product! :) So buy the wires you want for your car and post any negative or positive results! gggday !
