i assume i will need this type of mounting hardware for the cruise cont. if i want to get a GT-Spec bar or some other brand? or will the hardware for the cruise be compatible at all?

you need the mounting hardware for any strut bar. The stock CC bracket occupies two of three bolt headders that are required to attach the bar to the towers. Without the mounting hardware the CC and the CC bracket are in the way and correctly mounting the bar is impossible.

hmm. thanks for the advice. seems better to buy the mazda kit and then upgrade from there if i want a stiffer strut bar.

since few years back wanted to add a front strut bar to my 2002 protégé but never had the time. now I have mostly all the part needed except the cc bracket. looking around on the web I try my luck on the 24/7 mazda forum but no luck and no reply's to a thread I created. I was giving up hope and ran across this mazda 3 forum and to my surprise on this thread its all the info&sites needed to install a strut bar into my protégé. thanks for the info guys. :cheers:

ps. also when to my local mazda dealer here on southern cali and the mazda parts guy had no clue what I was talking about. cc bracket? what... waste of time. :uzi:
