Odd idle now

Since I have installed my new larger CAI. My car acts like its going to stall out. I reset the computer, but this hasn't helped. I check all the connections and they are still on.

Could this odd very low idle be the cause of so much more air being allowed in?

it's very possible. it could also be that you have a vacuum leak somewhere. make sure everything around your sensors is tight and leak-free. also, the "bigger is better" thing has been discussed many times before, i suggest you do a search about intake sizes before jesse finds this and busts his bling bling on you about intake sizes :p

Thanks for the warning:D

Damn Nick...just because you are in TEXAS does NOT mean EVERYTHING has to be bigger ya know! lol

Anyway mine did the same thing but that was after i adjusted the screw thing (sorry don't know the name) on the throttle body, then it got to much air. But i put it back and its all better.

I fixed the stumbled, by cleaning up the terminals, back to nice shiny new.

Now I have added twin scoops and 4" ducting reduced to 3" up to the air box and I must say it runs much better

I have decreased almost 2 full seconds off my Quarter mile time.

I just ran a 16.04, when before I ran a 17.88. It runs so good, I can get it to chirp in second now! I am amazed for 2.0.

Hmmm... I've chirped my 1.8L in third gear in a race against a modded Civic. Spun the tires in first... spun them briefly in second... chirped in third... by that time, I was about two car lengths ahead of the Civic and he gave up shortly after that and made a quick turn off the road onto a side street to avoid me at the next light, so I never made it into fourth (I wonder if he knew that side street was a dead end?).

But 16.04 is good for a near stock MP3! It'll be interesting once I get my car back from Injen later this week. They are installing a prototype CAI, though I don't know if I'll be able to tell any difference in performance...

I don't know much about your year of car or the engine. You may have more HP and less weight, than the MP3. Catching third is quite a feat in stock engine " I think it is" well done!

But I got that 16.04 on a full tank of gas. I assume I could have hit a high 15, if I was almost empty and took out all my son's toys and baby seat and all the damn diapers and wipies. I also forgot about the spare and jack. What else could I have removed? Sub box and back seats I guess. Fuck it and the passenger seat.

" Hey what can I say. Its my wifes car":D

LMAO!!

I have a '99 ES with no engine mods at all. But, it is true that the '99s weigh less. However, the 1.8L only puts out 120hp (California emissions) and 120lb-ft torque. But, it also revs up quicker (shorter stroke) and I was shifting just before redline and I never take my foot totally out of the throttle while shifting in races. So, when I dropped the clutch in third, the engine was spinning about 6,300rpm!
