Newbie Here!!!!
 

Hey everyone just wanted to say hi. I'm new to this forum and this is my first post. Hopefully you guys will be able to help me along my newly chosen path as I will do my best to help you out whenever possible.

I'm new to the Protege scene. Just bought one on Friday. It is a black 03 Mazdaspeed Protege. I'm looking to modding this out with hopes of getting 250 to the ground if possible. I'm pretty familiar with cars as I just sold my 96 Vortech supercharged mustang Cobra with way too many mods.

We've also owned 2 Miatas both of which were heavily modded. We still have 1 a black 97 with a JR supercharger and tons of other stuff.

So any help along the way is greatly appreciated.

OK here is the deal...

I picked the car up on Friday and didn't get to drive it much cause of Valentines day. I managed to get about 200 miles on it so far but now it is snowing 22" outside so I don't know when I'll be driving it again.

However, so far it is a blast to drive. I haven't gotten on it yet because I want to break it in for the first 1000 miles or so. The car handles insane. It grabs the road so hard and takes whatever input you give it with ease. I've taken onramps faster in this car with one hand on the wheel with no effort at all than in my Cobra with full suspension mods. The ride quality is great considering the revised suspension. The motor seems torquey but again I haven't gotten on it much at all. It needs a boost guage cause it doesn't come stock with on.

The Kenwood system is awesome!!! nothing like that for a stock car. So far I love the car and can't wait to have more input about it. If you want to know any specifics about it let me know. As for pics I've tried uploading them to another site and they are not visable. Anyone know where I can upload them to? I've tried Webshots and Yahoo without any luck.

hello Black03Speed and Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to our Club. There are TWO BIG fridge'S in the corner with anything you can think of in them...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have.

make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom don't care....and take it easy.

oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here.

What year was your 'Stang? 5.0 or newer Cobra?

My Cobra was a 96 with the 4.6 Dual overhead cam 32 valve motor. I added a Vortech S-trim supercharger and almost everything else I could afford. It was a fun car but it was hard to drive because it was so stiff and loud and uncomfortable. You know all the things that make cars good. LOL But I just got bored with it after having it for 4 years. I wanted something different so here I am.

Hey, do us a favor and put a cover on it until spring...don't let the weather touch it AT ALL, then you can show off it's true glory with that factory wax job. :)

Maybe it's all metal but the factory wax job is always the best your car will shine and it's hard to get it to shine like that again

FYI - If you plan on getting 250whp out of the MSP, also plan on frequent tranny replacement!:)

I'm hoping by the time I'm making 250 WHP there will be a stronger tranny on the market. My guess is someone will step up to the plate and offer something equivilant to a Tremec. Time will tell... I'm not crazy about the tranny in this car anyways. It is very jerky at low speeds. Not a big deal just annoying...
