New P5 Owner
1 Attachment(s)
Been on this forum awhile, but havent had a Protege in a few years.
Just bought this a few weeks ago. I love it so far. Bought it mainly as a DD but it might see some autocross events soon. Only things done so far are a shorty antenna, sunroof windscreen, and some new Nitto Neo Gens. Hopefully Ill have a Racing Beat exhaust and some sort of short ram intake in the next few weeks. Later on I may lower it, but those are my only plans. I bought this car for its fuel efficiency and the fact that I used to own a 93 Protege LX that I drove the crap out of (180K miles) and never had a major issue. I also own a 2004 Tribute LX, a 84 RX-7 GSL-SE, and a 87 RX-7 GXL shell. Attachment 9967 http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...dsc0024rl7.jpg |
Looks nice! Super clean for being 6 years old!
Welcome (back) to the club :) |

|
Welcome! P5s FTW!

Hey Steve, I thought I owned the 84 GSL-SE?? What gives!!
Welcome to the forum. Lots of good info here. p.s. This is Matty. |
Damn!! That's a REALLY well kept 02!! Congrats on the purchase, looks nice.
P.S. You have to lower it at least 1" .. the stock wheelgap is just horrible. |

Welcome to the forum. Lots of good info here. p.s. This is Matty. Not yet you dont! Actually, Todd Bradshaw is busy busy fabbing stuff for it to do group buys. I sent you a message via xbox live. Pat wants your 86 FC for sure. Thanks for the comments guys. The car actually has a fresh coat of paint on it that I didnt know about till after I bought it. They cut a few corners, and there is some overspray in the wheel wells, but its not a bad job so far. Im keeping it washed and waxed regularly so it stays that way. My new Neo Gens are 205s instead of 195s, so they take up some of the wheel gap, but I would still like to drop it a hair. Im also considering powder coating the wheels a darker gray. I did a photoshop mock up and it looked pretty good. Anyone seen a red P5 with darker coated stock wheels? |
Welcome back to the site, the car looks mint! awesome find!
I think a nice bronze coat on the stock wheels might just look amazing :) if it's the right shade something like this shade perhaps? http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2032/...b6b5b3be_o.jpg this is all assuming you like bronze.. I know a lot of people don't. It's one of my fav wheel finishes but would look gross on silver :P |
cool, pat said he wanted it but he was waiting a few weeks for some reason. I'll let him know it's his if you're sure you dont want to do the trade.
P5's have a LOT of potential to look very mean if done correctly. I found a used lot with a yellow 02.5p5 for sale....I wish I could get it for $5k and do my new NA package on it. |
Love the car. You'll have fun in it.
