my new PR5 -zoom freakin zoom-

On Sunday I picked up my first Mazda, a 2002.5 protege5, midnight blue mica, roof-rack, CD changer, polished wheels, Auto trans :( (the wife wanted auto). I am very pleased with it so far, heck I have only had it 3 days. The car has 23600 miles, so it is well broken in, the dealer said it was a company loaner, so I am figuring that it has been driven hard. My question for now is what should be my first upgrade? Cold air intake? Exhaust? Whatever i get first the wife should not be aware of right off the bat, she is a Jeep person, so tuning cars is not her thing.

Give me some advice. Thanks!!

Can i ask how much you paid? My GF is shopping for a car (new or used) and i have her 'considering' the P5 (she likes mine)...

Thanks!

Well my first upgrade was a strut tower bar. Its nice and cheap, too.

Then rims with some nice tires.

thanks

Strut tower bar installed stock, next.... rims and tires are coming after tax refund, some BBS 17" and new Pirelli's

Now onto intake, just replace the filters with K&N, or replace with a CAI??

LOL! So lemme get this straight. You got YOUR P5 with an auto trans 'cause the WIFE wanted it, but SHE likes jeeps and you can't mod YOUR car without it being a secret about it? Now don't get me wrong, I understand the whole wifey needs to drive it too but; don't you think you should be able to do what you want to if its YOUR car? You can teach her how to drive manual. Just asuming she doesn't know how. And when ya get her a Jeep (someday ;) ), she can have her auto.

No offense, ya just makin' males look like were pushovers :D

Anyways have fun with your new car. And if you want to be quiet with your mods, I would get the K&N filter. She won't hear a thing.

Ha HA HA HA HA HA!!!

No matter what board I'm on, its always the same. "....with auto tranni, (my wife drives the car too.)"

Damn, teach them to drive stick! GOD! My wife is the most impatient, stubborn girl in the world, if she can drive stick, anyone can!

EXACTLY my point. :D The thing is, she might like manual better after she learns.

mikespr5 December-17th-2003 10:17 AM

well, well boys.... She know how to drive stick, this one just happened to be an auto, we are getting old and living in the heavily congested Los Angeles, the auto makes sense, our other cars are all manuals, yes i pushed for the manual, she won out, it makes more sense, hell you try a 17mile 1 1/2 hour commute over the 405 freeway with a manual, you shift gears close to 100 times!

Besides the point... the K&N filters are going on at next oil change, wheels in March.

And damn, you all love to rant don't you....

Myk December-17th-2003 10:34 AM

Sorry, by reading your original post, it seemed to be like the rest of the poor married guys out there. You didn't mention you had a fleet of manual cars:)

#1 Your too old to have a manual now? Arthritis setting in gramps? Come on, ya only as old as you feel. :)
#2 I commute to Boston. I don't count how many times I shift.
#3 You WANTED a manual. I was just whole heartingly agreeing. You gave in. I ain't ranting
#4 Good choice on the K&N, We wouldn't want the sound of a CAI to freak your wife out.
#5 If ya haven't figured out I'm just messing with you,then............ theres no hope for you.
