MY car whistles...

Hi people....:) . I just brought a MP5 used, It has a little over 36000 miles on it. What are things that you might recommend to change on the car to make it run more better with out sacrificing reliability?
Also when I'm going over 60mph I here my car start to whistle from the center of the dash. As I strart to go faster I notice it gets louder but not to loud. Would any of you have an idea what of this could be? THANKS.

Do you have a roof-rack?

the whistler

Is there a little gnome from Dixieland in there?

Delaminating seal-tape?

I don't have a moon roof but, I do have the rack on the roof.

answered your own question... the rack whistles above 60ish mph.

See there is racks on the roof but I don't have a sun roof. The racks that are on the roof are for bikes and stuff. The whistle is coming from the center of the dash where the radio is, but not from the radio. more inside the dash. The whistle dosn't come from the roof.

A lot of them do it. I read somewhere long ago that it was the air vent intake below the windshield. Mine does it too.

has it been in an accedent

Pete47 February-18th-2004 12:57 PM

When I brought the car it came with a carfax report and it indicated that there where no acciedent with this car. NO I don't believe so.

Rusty? Did you fix the problem? How do you know this is a problem with other peoples car? If fixed, then how? It really doesn't bother but I wish it wasn't there.

I don't remember where I read that, but here is a link to all the TSBs that have been issued , some of which cover other whistling problems.

I can't hear it, but my passengers can, so I really don't care.
