if you can screw it down it would help.. or try spraying some of that expanding foam stuff behind it.. not sure if that stuff is really heat resistant... but when teh car is moving how hot would it get.. ther anyway..

I had the same problem with my RX-7 after installing a more demonic exhaust sytem. This might help you fix it.

1. Climb under the car and start knocking on heat shileds to find the offender or turn up the stereo to zero in on it.

2. Get a pry bar or similar and jam it between the heat shield and something else. In my case it was the heat shield right above the left side muffler so I put the bar in between the muffler and shield.

3. Push up (or down) on the bar to bend the heat shield into a position where it stops rattling. Again, in my case I ended up putting a large crease into the heat shield where it was connected to yet another heat shield. The seam of the two shields was the source of my vibration.

It may not look pretty but nobody besides your mechanic will ever see it. Hope this helps.

Heat Shield Rattle!!!

I am so glad you asked this question...I have the same problem...but not from my stereo...just when the car is warmed up and I usually hear it upon takeoff!!!

A guy down here had that prob... bent the shield a tad and sprayed undercoating right behind where he lifted it... worked. But then again, i guess it depends how bad it is.. maybe try some silicon?

i took off my heat shield, as it has no real purpose. Another option is to buy 2 large diameter worm clamps and wrap the shield, tightening it with the screw.

When I used to work at a quick-lube place we always removed rattling shields, and looked like heroes to hapless customers.
