Mud Flaps
 

I have a question regarding mud flaps on a 02 Protege. I need a set of regular Mazda Mud flaps and my Mazda dealer states that none are available. I know that Mazdastuff sells them so what the heck is the dealer telling me??? He tried to tell me that they will not be available because the car sits to low to the ground!!! Isn't that a load of crud. I even saw them advertised in a Mazda magazine while I was waiting to buy the car. I hate this dealer. Has anyone had a similar experience. Are the flaps they are selling not really for a Protege? I wonder what they would say if I asked for flaps for a MP3?:dunno:

I tried to order mudflaps as a dealer installed option,
but they wouldn't sell them to me, because they said
the bodywork extends too low for them to install
mudflaps.

The P5 does have extra body work that extends down
below the ordinary car body.

I suspect this means that the extra parts cover the
mudflap holes or are possibly screwed into them. So
probably they don't have a good/easy way to slap
them on there.

If you're willing to fudge it, you can probably find a
way to attach mudflaps, but I'll bet they don't install
the way the designers intended.

If anyone comes up with anything for the P5 and the mudflap thing keep the rest of us posted.:blue:

Okay, I found out what the prob was in why they couldn't get mudflaps for the protege. Turns out the parts guy at mazda used my VIN number to look up the parts. For some reason, good or bad, my VIN number shows my car to be a Pro5. Dumbass Ford people!!!:confused:

Yeah, It's pretty fucked up! I asked how they planned to fix it and they had no idea. Anyway my mazda dealer wants 15 bucks more than Mazda stuff per pair. This dealer can bite my ween.

I suggest you to go with rally mudflaps
i think its work better (bigger) and stonger (design for hostile condition), should be more competeble for any cars too.
The most thing i like is this mud flaps will give you more agressive looks (WRC style).
It is cheap too to replace (around) $ 20/four

but i dont know its legal in the states or not for road use

Has anyone gone ahead and bought some of these? I want some but I don't want the kind that stick out a couple inches from the sides.

I too wouyld be interested if anyone has come across something that looks good on a P5.

A pic would be very cool if possible.

I picked up generic mudflaps(flat pieces of plastic) from Canadian Tire for less than $10.
On Pr 5 front fenders you can use one of the factory screws which hold fender splash shield and drill just one hole in side skirt. They hold very well and protect door bottoms from winter road crap. I will take them off in the summer.
I advice against moulded splashguards-they rub off paint .
As for rears-I did not bother to do anything-most of the dirt goes inside fender without damaging rear bumper.
