MSP Warrenty issue?

Here is a question for you all...

I have an 03.5 MSP but I have a friend that also has the same.

We both did mods to our cars before we even hit 5000. Amoung other things, he had a Cork Sport exhaust. Since the exhaust eliminated both cats, the O2 sensor was moved to a bung in the S pipe.

To prevent codes from being thrown, we put in spark plug non-foulers so that the O2 would see less air and not throw the emissions code.

http://www.msprotege.com/forum/showt...ghlight=fouler

Fast forwarding about 6 months...

MSP decides one day to not start. It cranks but doesn't start up. Owner tows it to dealership. Dealership calls back to inform him that the O2 sensor was blowing fuses everytime they try to start the engine (I am presuming that it is the heater element shorting out). They also tell him that since he moved the sensor from the original bung, the warrenty is now void and he has to pay $750 towing, labor and new O2...

Does this seem feasible??? First of all, what fuse would be blown if the car still tries to start? Secondly, if the A/F mix is detected by the O2 located up front by the manifold, why would the car not atleast start up? Thirdly... voided warrenty?!?!?!?! WTF!

Mazda is just like any other car company, however they can get out of paying for somethign wrong they will. Just like with the WRX STI once it hits off road oops void warrenty cause thye dont want u "rallying". sorry u guys gotta deal with that bs, that sucks good luck

heres my advice to you, sinceu both did that thing to extend the o2 sensors away from the pipe if u have any car troubles take off that extension and put ur o2 sensor in there say that the CEL light didnt come on and youve had it that way the whole time, they cant prove it sense obviously ur cel never did show up (i hear that ecus can remember every time u touched redline or whenever a light goes on etc so the companies and screw u over) so they will have no evidence to prove u wrong. its worth tryign to lie at least lol

Ya, I will definately take out my mods...

Actually the non-fouler trick didn't work for me, my car got really pi$$ed and ran itself so rich that it choked. I had to do the 1M ohm resistor/ 1uf capacitor trick...

But I just hope I don't need warrenty repair on the side of a road in the middle of the night because that is alot of undoing I would have to accomplish before the tow truck comes LOL!

lol, well they usually take about a good 4 hours so just bust out the 1 million candle power spotlight and go for it lol.
