MP3 ECU Installed

Well i got the mp3 ecu installed, i've only taken the car out once but i must say it does pull alot nicer, especially on the highway 75-100mph it pulls hard never did before, so i got a question
how much would you say i'm making power wise with these mods?
ebay intake
Removed vtcs
obx header
mp3 ecu
obx axle back(if this even counts)
beofore i got the ecu a few people told me around 141 hp(crank of course)
what do ya'll think?
peace

I gotta agree, I noticed the difference immediately at about 4k+. Not so much power-wise, although there was some, but my engine just pulled so much better/smoother above 4k.
You should also get the NGK long-reach plugs: NGK ZRF5F-11
IMHO, I think they smooth out the revs and are a nice complement to the MP3 ECU.

My guesstimate of our current output: 115whp.

BTW, where'd you get your ECU & how much?

Roddimus Prime November-2nd-2005 03:16 PM

yup 110-115whp sounds about right. I have almost identical mods and that's what mine did.

hmmm...i wonder what i would do then.

I too would like to know your cost and where you bought it. Also, when searching for this ECU on junkyard sites I see there are three different part numbers. Does it make any difference which one you use?

according to "the man"s grossly outdated protege faq, the part number for the mp3 ecu is FS9N-18-881C

Roddimus Prime November-2nd-2005 06:17 PM

i don't the FAQ is THAT outdated....just not real current!

Also, 881 and 881B..I don't think they are different in any significant way.

You're right, it's not outdated, the old info still applies, just not that much new stuff. That's what I meant to say : )

$164 shipped i got it from a guy hughes412 knew, iirc he was going to buy it but then a another came up and he bought that one instead and told the original guy that i was looking for one and it went from there

as far as the part numbers go theres 3 versions i think 2 of them have a B at the end and the other has a C at the end i think i have version 881B
i think its just slight revisions in the software but nothing signifigant

easiest/cheapest way to get it....have a tech flash it to your car...you'll need an mp3 at the time...all he has to do is download it and load it into your car. i have a friend that does it for $60

Is it possible to scan the MP3 data & store it to use on multiple cars in the future?

I'd like to get mine done eventually, but no MP3s anywhere around here...

Phantom Cruiser November-3rd-2005 12:46 PM

I did 121 whp BEFORE the mp3 ecu...I have not re-dyno'd to see if I got any other gains (shame on me :( )

Topher November-3rd-2005 01:36 PM

you have to have the ecu in someone's car. they download it in their WDS and upload it onto your car via your port under the dash. if someone around you has gotten an mp3 ecu, you can use theirs...but i don't think you can store it anywhere for future use.

isn't the mp3 firmware or whatever downloadable on the net? stuff like that should be made available just like flashing BIOS's on computers... with ability to go back
