Moonroof, window deflectors; Magnetic Bra

1. I purchased the Mazda moonroof deflector, and have ordered the Weather Tech window deflectors (had these on a different car and they work really well). The moonroof deflector is a dark smoke color.
Am I correct in assuming that the Weather Tech deflectors are slightly lighter in color? Anyone have pics of the Weather Tech deflectors installed (hopefully also with your moonroof deflector in same photo)?

2. I am intrigued by the magnetic bra. Does anyone have any comments on how well they have liked the item? Specifically, if a rock hit the bra, would the bra crack or chip (paint)?

Thanks to everyone for their help so far. I recently joined this list and have found it very helpful.

When i first got mine it looked real sharp.

After a while, i had trouble with it sticking to the hood (i always take it off when i wash my car).

In the end i replaced it with a hood deflector...

Thank you for the info. I was worried about the magnetic bra doing exactly what you described.
I like your low profile hood deflector. Where did you buy it and does it affix with 3M tape rather than bolts?

P.S. I already received the WeatherFlectors and they are fantastic, somewhat lighter in color than the Mazda moonroof deflector but very compatible and do not look out of place. As I said before, I had them on another car and they perform as advertised.

i hate the magnetic bra. i took the damned thing off on a hot summer day and it left this ugly film on my car that has now turned brown, and i cannot get it off! i think the only thing that will get it off is if i sand it off!

The hood deflector is attached with plastic clips under the hood (so you don't have to worry about anybody stealing it). I got mine through my local Mazda dealer (Woodstock, Ontario, Canada). Not all Mazda dealers carry them. So if yours doesn't, then try this web site. Good luck!

JG_Giant, the vendor you mentioned was recommended by someone else, so I will go with that.
By the way, are you able to clean/wax behind it, or is it too close to the hood to get under?
Thanks again for your help!

jg_giant December-26th-2003 09:35 PM

There's enough room to clean and wax behind it. The deflector itself is a bit flexible...

Your pics sold me. I appreciate the help. Looks as if you have sunlight silver finish. I had a 2001 Miata in that color, very classy.

Avoid the magnetic bra. It's a piece of crap. I had the same problems mentioned here in addition to the fact it scratched the hell out of my hood and made it slightly dull. I buffed about 98% of it out; however, I shouldn't have to do that. In the end, the plastic deflector is the way to go---it's what I have now.

CAUTION! If you order from autoseattle, make certain they have it in stock and ready to ship. It took them about a month to get mine.
