Mazdaspeed Protege`

So, just curious......

Who is looking at this car? Do you think it is going to sell well. I am going up to Michigan on Saturday to put a deposit down on one. I live in Indiana and there aren't any MS dealers near me.

I am getting rid of the SHO for this car. I like its looks and overall apeal and and the turbo too.....

What is everyone else's opinion?

no doubt it WILL sell out, and dealer will charge thousands over MSRP for it too.

ok maybe not that much over, but it'll stay at or above MSRP and still sell out.

personally I would get one, but I love my ol' 2000 ES too much to give it up, and I still owe money on the loan. Don't want to end up with a 26k loan for a 21k car...

I put a deposit down with Bill Cook Imports in Michigan. They are supposedly getting 12. They are the biggest Mazda dealer in the state, and the only Elite dealer. They did not accept deposits until last week, they waited until they knew for sure about their status as a Mazdaspeed dealer.

I called other Mazda dealers a little closer to home and they were either naive about MSP or too pushy. When I quizzed one about price and whether they will sell for MSRP he said, "you'll have to wait and see, if you don't like the price then you can have the deposit back, I have more buyers than cars." When I called Bill Cook I actually got a salesperson (Ray Smith) that was honest, did his research, called me back and invited me to leave a deposit which allows me to take my pick off the lot. They are selling at MSRP. Tell Ray that Andrew recommended him and he will treat you well, he and I hit it off pretty well, he should treat you alright.

ya know its a real shame that not EVERY mazda dealer isn't a mazdaspeed authorized dealer......and here is why.....I ran across this this weekend......EVERY mazda dealer was given the option to become a Mazdaspeed dealer and have the rights to sell the cars and the parts.....but they had to agree to a few stipulations....and OBVIOUSLY some weren't willing to do that. OH WELL....the consumer loses again.

Yeah, they also had to cough up a nice chunk of change to be a Mazdaspeed dealer.

I just put my deposit down on a Spicy Orange at my local dealer, Nucar Mazda, yesterday. They're selling it to me for list price. They're getting 10 orange and 10 black.

To be exact, my dealer (the manager) told me that they had to keep like $50k worth of parts in stock and like $10k in service equipment in the service department just to qualify in being a Mazdaspeed dealer. So he's not going for that.

Besides, the last MP3 that he had in the lot was nothing but trouble. Those teenagers would just test drive it for fun and really had no intention in buying it. Eventually he kept it in the showroom and sold it (eventually).
