Mazdaspeed Headlights?

Ok is it just me or do the headlight kits for the Mazdaspeed protege look really nice with the black insides? I would love to know where to get those, forget the altezza's, i will take the mazdaspeed headlight cases.

alcoholiday February-3rd-2003 07:55 PM

drive to canada.

jack a canadian 2003 protege sedan.

Hong Kong Fever February-3rd-2003 07:58 PM

or a 2003 Protege 5...basically all Protege's here in Canada have the blacked out headlights...

alcoholiday February-3rd-2003 08:00 PM

ah yes, my mistake. you have a P5. so jack a new canadian P5.

i initially thought you had a sedan.

Jaster Mereel February-3rd-2003 08:31 PM

that sux, none of the 2003 P5's that i have seen come with the black outs

alcoholiday February-3rd-2003 08:40 PM

canada only.

pr5owner February-3rd-2003 09:54 PM

thats because canada ownz the US

NegatiZE February-3rd-2003 10:00 PM

I could have swore I saw some US-spec Protege sedans the other day w/ the black out headlights at my local dealer. I think they are standard on all 03 Protege's. (Or at least the ES's)

dynotrick February-3rd-2003 10:11 PM

the protege sedan in the US has the blacked out headlights standard for 03. If I remember right they made the change for the sedan in 2002.5. But only the Canadian Protege5 has blacked headlights. You can try ordering them from Canada maybe.

MP3's had black lenses as well didn't they?

No, that's MY theory.:D
I'm savin up for the tissue box right now, I figure it'll give me about 5hp at the wheels. What do you think? Am I being conservative? Only three more months of saving, and it's all mine!

That tissue cover is so worth it. I got mine and not having the ghey floral patterns from the tissue box messing with my black leather interior is good for at least 5hp on the 'ol butt dyno.
;) :p

Jaster Mereel February-4th-2003 06:19 AM

yeah the mp3 has the black outs, but the thing about the mp3 and the mazdaspeed protege is that they have the protege 5 front bumper and headlights. So if i ever find a mp3 in a wreck shop, i am taking the headlights.

Yep, the '03 black headlights do look pretty cool. I was checking them out too at the dealership the other week when I took my '02 in for an oil change. But I really really like the '02 headlights too. I can't deside...

Jaster Mereel February-5th-2003 07:41 PM

my friend suggested to me to just open the cases and spray paint the inside black, but i think i would rather buy the authentic ones instead.

I'm trying to figure this out. The Mp3 and MazdaSpeed Protege have the same blacked out single headlights as the Protege ES. The Protege5 has amber side reflectors on the bumper just around the sides as these are required in N/A. The MP3 and MazdaSpeed don't have these as amber signals are visible from the side integrated into the single-beam headlights.

The Protege5 has dual-filament headlights. It has a different bulb for low and high beam. The sedan does not have this.

That clears that up?

90210brandon February-6th-2003 12:02 PM

OK. Now I am lost. It must have been my accident.

CitizenPro February-6th-2003 12:25 PM

The MP3 and the protege sedan have the same headlights with black interior....the Mazdaspeed has a dark grey interior in the headlight.....well at least the one I saw at the dealership....But If you convert your P5 with MP3 or MPS headlights you will need rewire some things....I put in some MP3 headlights and now my lights are stuck in High beams when you turn your lights on since your using a different bulb....You will need that extra wire (3 wires total) like the MP3's have that goes to the bulb and not just two wires like the P5's.....make sense? Also...dont ask me how to rewire it because i dont know how....thats what my service tech is doing at my mazda dealer.

Why waste the money on the authentic ones? no one will know the difference, and you can use that money on something with performance value instead....go buy some flat black hi-temp engine paint, and go to town on them...just take your time, and be careful taking them apart...I jacked some clips under the front of the headlights cause I was in a hurry...had to epoxy it. Good luck...save your money:bt:

I bought my car from a dealer in Leduc, Alberta, Canada.
They said they could bring in the Black Housing 2003 Protege 5 Headlights. Call Warren @ 780-986-9665.

Good Luck

Ya, but last time I checked, they would cost an arm and a leg... Just paint them yourself...
