Mazda 3 shift knob in a P5?
 

I was waiting around today at the dealership while I waited for their courtesy shuttle back to work and I decided to check out the new 3. The interior is really slick, though I'm not sure that I like how you can't upgrade to a new head unit. I liked how the shifter looks and feels under my big hand. Has anyone thought about or tried replaced the shifter in a P5 with that from the 3? Is the thread pattern the same? I think the 3's shifter is also a little shorter...

Sorry... to clear up what I mean... I'm thinking of replacing just the shift knob, not necessarily the the whole assembly. Thanks!

yes it will fit....a friend of mine has it...looks very nice.
