Lost bolt off my headers

I don't get it!! My dad was checking my engine the other day and noticed that one bolt is missing off my headers!! WTF! I haven't modify anything under the hood.. so how did this happened? Judging by the marks, looks like a bolt was there before. Could it just fall out?!?!

I had my car since March 02 with only 8000kms on it. I'm planning to take it to Mazda over the weekend. Has anything like this happened to anyone?

I'll take a picture and post it later on.

Well.... a quick two-second search for "missing bolt" returned this thread:

Are you sure its your header and not your heat shield?

Cause alot of people report having lost that bolt on the heat shield, myself included. If so, then its not a big deal. Just get your dealer to replace it. It will take 5 minutes.

zoom, if it is the header and you want to replace it yourself look at the number on the other bolts in the manifold (heatshield). That should help you find a replacement

Ok.. so I was too lazy to do a search

But indeed it seems to be the same problem. I'll go to Mazda Saturday and have it checked out. Shouldn't be a problem.

So sorry but the other bolts on the heat shield don't fit, go figure. Or at least that is what the other guys have been saying. Two of the local guys here are also missing that bolt so it seems to be a problem across the board (no pun intended). Manon I bet when you go to the dealer, they will NOT have that bolt and it will have to be back-ordered. Not an item regularly in stock. You may also want to have someone check your valve cover bolts. Sandman here found several of his bolts loose.

When I went in to get it replaced the tech working on the car took one look at what he needed, went over to his work area and grabbed a bolt that fit out of a bin right there. This leads me to believe that the bolt is actually pretty common. Maybe I was just lucky.

The hard part about it was convincing the guy behing the chekin counter that I did not need to leave the car all day for this repair (eventhough I had called ahead and set up a time!). They either have the bolt or they don't... and it they do then it takes 2 mins to install. Once he saw the light I was in and out in 10 mins.
