light problem
 

Whenever I replace my light on left side, it's kind loose and shaky(??)
I dont know if this is related but my light bulb get either burned or get filaments were cut off. specially left headlight bulb.
so, my light bulb doesn't last long. maybe week most for HID kind of light bulb, and factory for about few months. :(
what is the difference between 55w 110w? maybe this is the reason. does lower number of w mean less chance to get burned off? and how long does Piaa light last?
I'm so pissed, i've already replaced few headlight already.
I asked dealer if they can fix this, but they just said they can try, but never said it will be fixed.
also inspection will cost me between 40~70. damn...
help me out guys.

After having inssues headlights, etc. (search the threads), I will tell you this:

MAZDA WARRANTIES THE LIGHTBULBS! THE DEALER SHOULD NOT CHARGE YOU! IT IS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY! PUT THE ORIGINALS BACK IN AND GO TO THE DEALER! Try it out for a week, then swap the HID-type bulbs back with the brown connector with the originals and put them in. There should be NO wiggle.

REally? lightbulbs were covered under warranty?
hmmm...but my car already have 33000miles. do u think it will still cover? and one more quesition. is headlight adjustement also covered under warranty?

Yes, lightbulbs are covered under warranty. My left headlight bulb went out, replaced both with a set from Pep Boys. I didnt' use the brown little connector on the H7 bulbs, broke the clips on both. Went to the dealer, and they said they were covered under warranty and that the clip could not be purchase separately from the main headlight assemblies. After "dickin'" around off and on for months I bought a new set and did it the right way (use the brown connectors). YES, for the lifetime of the vehicle bulbs and alignments on the beams. And yeah, I was blown away they were covered as well - especially from coming from a Honda/Acura background. Listen to me - this is no bullshit and it will save you the money I spent!

where did you purchased your car from?
cause my dealer is mixed with crysler and mazda. anyway, i bought a set of noyka h7 from car boutique few month ago, but they didn't fit it right. that's what they told me.
yes, i think my driver side of that metal clip is kind weird or broken. and what do u mean by brown connectors?
and are u still willing to sell ur fog light? just 1 of them.

Just sold both pair of fog lights today coincidentally.

Secondly, I have extra "clips" that I fabricated if yours are hosed.

Thirdly, the stock H7 bulb from Mazda has a brown connector that the actual H7 bulb plugs into that then plugs into the white connector in the car.

Don't be stupid like me - the brown connector IS NOT part of the stock bulb.

I have Nokya's in my car (using the brown connectors) I have EXTRA'S now (obtained from a guy in Idaho).

PM me, and we can hook up and I can fix your shit (for free).

you said u have extra for light bulb? my car is light now one light on drivers side, so i have to buy new bulb.

The left headlight going out on P5s seems to be a pretty common problem. Mine has had to be replaced too. I wonder how many people have had this problem? Maybe Mazda might need to look into a power issue or a sealing issue?

When I ordered my replacement headlights (long story), the passenger side was fine but the drivers was wiggly. What had happened is from the factory, the horizontal and vertical adjustment was way off. When removing the horizontal plastic cover and tightening that with that of the vertical alignment, the wobbly went away. My headlights are properly aimed and rock steady.

What had happened to this gentlmen in this thread (talked with him) was that the bulb was loose because he put aftermarket Nokya's in there without the Mazda converter/plastic piece. In otherwords, he bent the clip. Utilizing the converter plastic on the H7 bulb then gets clipped in by the retainer and then the white plastic harness electrical connector.

I am fixing his issue tomorrow.

Thanks for the insight about the headlight. I took my old ones apart to see how it all worked.

My dealer told me NOT to get aftermarket bulbs, as they get too hot and melt the housing. Anyone else heard this?? Thanks for the info on headlight warranty, does that also include the driving light bulbs?? later:)

The dealer will tell you that because they are not that in touch with the aftermarket scene. Providing you have the proper bulbs installed you will have no problems. I would not stray away from PIAA or Nokya. Heck, I used to like Cuso's but they suck. I have not used APC's so I can not speak for their quality. Remember, use the brown adapter/connector from the stock bulbs to that of aftermarket.

Generally I would agree to your post. 99% of the cars out there would fall in that case. However, I am the 1% that have sold my project cars to individuals who understood that 1%. Otherwise, I returned the car back to stock if trading it into the dealer.

My Dealer told me that the Warranties for the light is ONLY for the FIRST YEAR.

Bijou-MP5 stopped by my house today and in a few hours we accomplished:

- Fixed Headlight(s) problems
- Purchased and installed Nokya Blue Bulbs
- Painted Mazda Emblem in Front Grill (Flat Black)
- Painted Instrumentation Panel Bezel (Metallic Black)
- Did the electrical fog light mod
- Installed air intake filter and custom bracket
- Cleaned some bumper crap
- Test drives in his and my car
- Miscellaneous (oh yeah, chowed down some McD's food as well!)


All, by the way was started today and fabricated with parts and tools in my garage (in about 4 hours with 1 hour of travel time to get bulbs/food) so actually 3 hours
