lease, buy...

If there is any one leasing their P5 like me...I was just wondering how many of you will be probably buying it after the lease is up? I want to buy it but when my boyfriend drives it, he's hard on it. I think he thinks it's a friggen lemans car or something! I don't know if it would be worth it with the way he drives. I baby it and he just makes front of me. I love it soo much though.

Tell him to stop driving your shit. Doesn't he have a car? Or is the p5 both yours?

I think you have to look @ your buy out price vs the book valve of the car when your lease is up. You may owe more then what the car is worth or it could be the opposite.

My boyfriend is helping me pay for the car so unfortunately he gets to drive it too. We worked it out evenly so that he gets to take it to work for two weeks and then I do. I guess if the car is in good shape and nothing bad happens to it I might buy it. There might be a sweet car that comes out when my lease is up that I might want to try out....so many factors...so many cars.....lol

Well then I think you need to sit him down and have a talk with him , cause if he is driving your car like a damn cart car, then at the end of the lease , you may not want it anymore, ..It's nice to drive a car hard once in a while,, but not all the time, also like someone above said you will want to make sure that your book value , is at least even or more than what you owe, that way you will have a good price to purchase the car from them for, . Ofcourse this all depends on wheather you choose a lease with option to buy

If you buy a lease car you'll have to pay State tax on the total amount of your payoff. If you decide to trade your lease in you might want to keep this in mind also.

thanks guys...the way he drives is just the way he drives...very aggressive.! He wants to get an S10 so hopefully this summer he will find something that catches his eye and leave the P5 to me!

Bruce95fmla April-3rd-2002 02:36 PM

let's hope so ,, cause if you feal about your car , the way I feal about mine ,,, then you would hate to have someone driving it like that ... man I think that w ould really bother me ...

he speeds alot so as long there is nobody in his way its ok. I usually end up yelling at him...lol. He needs to get into an accident and then see how crazy he drives!! Not in my car of course.....he he he. If I was rich I'd buy him the darn truck. Have my P5 as a summer car and get something else for the winter!!!
AAAAAaHHHH to dream...........

Bruce95fmla April-3rd-2002 02:50 PM

yeah dreaming is nice,, if i could do that , my car would be lowered 3" have 18's with 215/40's and a damn 2.2L Turbo engine ,,....
but hey I have a 1.5L and God
so I am ok

I got the 48 month lease buy option...? After the 48th month I can pay the balloon of 8Gs. Or finance that for 2 more years. 357 a month.

Makaveli April-3rd-2002 06:51 PM

I can buy out my car after four years for 9,500$ CDN if I want. I'll probably look at the value of the car and see if it's more then the amount I have to pay. Even if it's slightly higher, I'll probably pay it since I know that I'll be the only owner of the car.

bmassche April-3rd-2002 07:49 PM

Don't let him drive it if thats the way he treats it. Its OK to drive agressive every once and a while but he should respect that the car is your property, your not married yet I hope. I lease my 2000
protege and have had no problems with it at all. I have a 4 year lease, and have only 21000 k on it. I wish I had bought it though.
Leasing is cheap in the short term but you end up paying more in the end.

If you lease a car it is generally not a good idea to buy out the lease. You'll end up paying more than buying it outright. Turn in the car and purchace a new one if you want to buy.

I lease most of my cars now. Its nice to have a NEW car every 3yrs. Always a waranty, no depreciation(sp) etc.

Thats what I'm thinking. If they are still making thrP5 in 4 years I'll just lease the new one. It would have to be yellow, of course!
