Bought classic black P5 this weekend. Only option was moonroof. Very cool car and so much fun to drive....

I want to thank all of you that have posted your thoughts, comments on the P5 and maintenance, engine quality, etc. Your opinions helped a lot.

Only issue that I have now is a slight metallic 'ping' when shifting from 2nd to 3rd. But it sounds like it is coming from behind the driver seat, so it may just be that the lug wrench is loose in the back compartment and hitting something... I'll find/figure it out.

Hey there Tetonman, welcome to the club. I hope your stay is enjoyable as much as it has been for me.

As for that sound, the lug wrench is in a fabric bag so it should not be making any noise. Check and see if the jack is secured with its locking bolt as I found that it is a bit fiddly and may work loose. With a brand new car everything should be tight.

tetonman, welcome to our happy little corner of the net.

do you have lock lugs on your wheels from the factory? the KEY for them is tyrapped to the lug wrench and MAY be "pinging" on the rim of the spare tire...and even though the lug wrench is in a THIN fabric bag....it COULD be doing that too....I know mine did...I got an old hand towel from my rag bin and wrapped the lug wrench up in the towel and put it back with the spart tire....not only did it stop the "PINGING" it also gave me some to wipe my hands off if I ever find myself by the side of the road changing a tire and getting my hands all dirty.

:{D

I keep a pair of gloves in my trunk for just such purposes. Also good for winter work if you don't wnat to dirty your regular winter gloves.

The towel idea worked

Pinging was the wrench (I think)...

No sounds now, just the engine which is what I want to hear anyway...

Thanks
