japan here i come

Finally im going to japan. June 1. me and my g/f are getting married so we have to go see the parents. What is the likelyhood of me being able to score some cams there? I hope i can. also i plan on test driving as many cars as i can. so i can tell if their other cars are like the ones we are familiar with. But anyways, if there are any requests for some dealer suppled items that anyone would like me to get post here or Pm me. not that i check often but ill try to be more responsible.

Yeah, have fun. If you're looking for cams I'd at least try & find the j-spec exhaust cam, as they are very difficult to obtain here. As for the intake cam, see what they are going for here and if you find a better price in Japan, buy it!
Take into account you may have to pay customs duty upon your return to the U.S.
You should check on that before you go.

A few tips (as I am still in Japan, and they are fresh in my mind):
1.) Autbacs and Super Autobacs are not that cool. Think Japanese Pep Boys.
2.) Ditto for Yellow Hat, except it is more like a Japanese Autozone
3.) Mazda dealers are great in Japan. the service is fantastic. Order ahead a week or so, as most do not seem to have any inventory. Oh, and genuine parts = big bucks.
4.) Most of the stuff you will see for your car is also available in the USA
5.) I am convinced that for our cars, there are more performance parts and dedicated vendors in the USA. You will see plenty of nice Silvias, Skylines, Evos of every stripe, and Type R Hondas that never made it to the states. But, tuned Familias are few and far between.
Have fun in Japan. The people here are fantastic, the food is good, and there is a lot to see. Just be sure to bring a lot of cash... this place is EXPENSIVE and not every place will take your credit card!
