Intake/warranty
 

I purchased the extended warranty when i bought my p5, but does anyone know if an intake system (any kind) will void that warranty? If not, does anyone have any suggestions for a nice sounding one? thanks

What's up bro, Any intake system that removes the stock system and puts in a totally new one, voids your warranty...to an extent. If you have an intake and your air sensor messes up, they will not fix it under warranty, but if your tranny blows, then than will be covered. The Drop in filters (i.e. K&N) do not void any type of warranty. But those don't give you any real power gains, maybe +1 or so. Now, you could install an AEM intake and if you are really worried, remove the intake when you take it to the dealer. I don't really think that you will have a problem. I have an AEM and I've had no problems 17000 miles later. And it sounds Great, Real deep but not too loud. Hope that helps.

Hi Bob and Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to our Club. There are TWO BIG fridge'S in the corner with anything you can think of in them...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have.

make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom don't care....and take it easy.

oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here.

NOW for your question.....for the TRUE hot poop on this...do a search on the net and find the "MAGNUSON-MOSS WARRANTY ACT" that is the true answer to your question.....and it says NO, that adding any aftermarket part will NOT void your warranty. what it does say though...is that if YOUR aftermarket part fails and causes the failure of a stock part...then you are liable not the car manufacturer. The thing to do is this....if you add aftermarket parts...save your stock ones and if you need warranty work related to that part...just swap them back on. no biggie. but I have never heard of ANY simple bolt on aftermarket part EVER causing a problem at all.

One thing....does this mean that if you take your car in for survice of any kind that your dealer won't hastle you? NO....as there are some A$$HOLE service managers out there that will....others think its cool.....from that stand point its a crap shoot.
