Intake Temp. Sensor...

I have a 99 ES 1.8 with an AEM ram intake and the intake temperature sensor came up on the check engine. I would like to know if anyone has had a similar problem with that due to an after-market intake giving a different temperature. If the sensor reads a different temperature than stock, is that when it lights up? What should I do? :(

It's not happening because temperature is different. The ECU thinks that something is wrong with the IAT sensor itself.

I would double-check the installation of the sensor. Try wiggling the connector, unplugging it, and cleaning the plug with a Q-tip soaked in alcohol. It's possible that you broke the IAT while installing the intake; you should also try testing it. I would tell you how but my FSM isn't handy.

Hope this helps! :D

hi. i have the same set-up (1999 1.8L and AEM).

you can also try unplugging the battery to reset the computer.

and if you have an alarm with the siren in the engine bay, you might want to get ready for it to go off ... not the i hit my head on the hood when it went off for me or anything like that ... <cough> :)
