An idea for gauges....

Sup guys, you may have seen my post about the whole Need for Speed Underground 2 thing that i went to the other day. While the guy was dynoing my car, he hooked up this little electronic tool to my OBD II plug near the hood release latch. On the screen of the thing you could see your real engine temp and a few other things. I was wondering if there are any gauges or anything that would display these things by connecting to the OBD II plug. I know in the 350z there is a gauge that has like 6 different thing you can do/monitor by pushing a button, and i was kinda thinking of something like that. Some of my friends have those Apex'i AFCs, but i dont know if that's quite the same thing. I think those AFCs do a bit more than im asking for, and probably are way more complicated.

Just wondering :D
Thanks guys!
Tre

an AFC is used to adjust fuel delivery to tune a car, it also monitors and displays AF correction, RPM, Throttle position and so on, you can also cheat it to monitor your AF ratio. If you just want to monitor your motor closer get some good gauges and mount them up (cleanly) to keep an eye on your engines vitals..

wth..i did not post this message..

changing my password :P

Holy crap are you serious? Who would steal a username and password just to post a random question about gauges?

Roddimus Prime June-29th-2004 12:30 PM

no'ones doing it intentionaly. This happened to me as well. I logged onto my work computer and posted a message under some random newbie's name. I caught it, logged out, logged in and it was fine,.

Anarchistchiken June-29th-2004 12:46 PM

How does that work?

Roddimus Prime June-29th-2004 12:55 PM

just a glitch in the matrix...it happens when the agents change something.

LOL.....

Anarchistchiken June-29th-2004 01:10 PM

Hahahahahaha. Ah, of course. Like Deja Vu. With the cat... The first Matrix was the best of the three.

WTH, i was the one who posted this message!

Anyways, anyone else have any input on the topic? I remember a long time ago i was gonna install some gauges on my turbo eclipse, but it was pretty complex. Wouldnt simply plugging into the OBD II plug be a lot easier? (that is if it is capable of telling us these things)

sure, if you have a lap top with the OBD software and a connection to plug into the USB port and diagnostic port, then you have to run around with a laptop in your car....gauges are easier...not hard to install and are less theft prone than a computer

Arghman, I have a question for you. How the hell do 6" subs work? That doesn't even make sense. Are they 6" mids that you use just for bass frequencies or what? Sorry to threadjack, but that confused me.

The OBD gagues would be cool as hell, really simple plug'n'play, but it's not practical unless someone comes up with a multi-display gague that will work the the OBD port.

1 word carputer!!
You could have all your gauges that way.

haha thats funny but its true then youll never have to worry about mis caculations.....

One of my friends has his OBDII reader hooked up to a Palm Pilot. He modified an ashtray to hold the PDA in a position that visible for the driver when the ashtray is pulled out. The OBDII software he uses has the ability to display up to 4 gauges at a time with either an analog or digital readout.
