I keep kicken' the door!

Does anyone else have this problem?

When I get out of my 5 I often kick the door near the speaker grill with my left foot. It leaves a mark on the door that I immediately try to rub off while cursing myself for doing it yet again!

I have to consciously bring my knee towards my body before throwing my leg out the door to avoid kicking it. It's not just me because I see some of my passengers have down the same.

There does not appear to be any permanent door scuffs YET.

Yep I do the same thing. I have a habbit of sitting up high and up close and Im too tall for that. If I let slide the seat back a little and bring down the steering wheel then its not so bad.

Long Legs are the problem

I have the same problem. I am guessing you must have longer legs. I do and every time I get out of the car....bammmm...my foot hits the door.

Then again, if I would just slow down when I get out, maybe I would be more cautious. :-)

i have the same problem, but when i get into the car. i always get into the car and close the door faster than i am able to get my feet in sometimes so i always smash my foot or scruff the door with my shoes. ah what the hell, im a clutz damnit

Im used to driving our jetta and because you sit higher when you open the door you almost step over and down and so you have more clearence. I think its because in the P5 you sit lower so you kind of have to bring your feet up and out.

My problem is a little worse... Most of the slacks I wear to work have cuffs... and every time I slide my left foot out of the car, the cuff gets caught on the seat lever... I've actually fallen straight out of my car twice because of this... it's not pretty. Once was when I got to work. Quite embarrasing.

That's pretty funny Brubeck! I'll be thinking of that next time I wear cuffed pants.

I think Andree' is right, the way the P5 sits low causes me to have to lift my foot up and out of the car. I'm 6' tall and have a 33" inseam so I wouldn't consider my legs exceptionally long. I have my seat almost all the way back so I don't think I'm cramming up close to the wheel.

Oh well, I will continue deliberately and carefully getting my feet out of the car while grabbing metal around the door to prevent the sterilizing shock the car likes to say goodbye with. But in the end... it's worth it!

hmmz....how funny.....i do have this same problem too.....keep scuffing the bottom of driver's door. Haven't checked if there's any permanent marks yet....hope not! I feel like kickin myself in tha ass every time I kick tha door!!
Is it just me or does this material the door is made of....and the dash seem to scuff/mark very easily??

its ok man your not alone, by the amount of posts which i didnt read all, there are alotta us who do this, maybe we should start a self help group so that maybe 1 day we can recover from such a horrible predicament.

well i dout many of u wear bondage pants which have straps along the back, everytime i wear them i always get them caught on the lever and can never move, this can prove to be emarassing sometimes, kinda like when i was roller blading today and fell in front of this girl i've been talking to. :(
oh well, such is life

add yet one more to the self-help group sessions!
it's really bad when i have to wear my steel toes and accidently kick it... i end up checking to make sure i didn't do anything to my speaker underneath the grill!
