How to unthaw windshield washer??
My windshield washer nozzles are frozen I think, so is there a simple way to unthaw them? Its been very cold here, -2.. Thanks.

Eh, just wait for it to warm up, it's only Spokane after all. LOL. Doesnt get that cold there.
If you are in a real hurry, try take a blow dryer to them. Maybe next time, during the winter months, run straight washer fluid, don't water it down. I know the stuff we use here is good to -15F. |
Try pouring a luke-warm glass of water on 'em. :)

Warm water didnt work. The fluid froze in the container and in the hose. I siphoned it out and put regular winter washer fluid but still no work. Can the pump go bad when it freezes?
There is not much you can do at this point short of removing the container and bringing it in the house, or letting it set in a garage for a day, and run the washer till it's all gone then refill with straight washer fluid.
As far as the motor goes, as long as you are not running it constantly, it should be ok. Just don't use it too much.
when you lull the lever, listen...do you hear the pump running ???
I dont hear it at all, is it pretty audible? And does the engine have to be running for it to run? Crap.
engine does not have to be running, but ignition does need to be in the "on" position...it is a fairly audible hum...
Have someone put their ear next to the container when you pull the switch, they should hear it whir.
You should hear it when you're in the car, sounds like a robotic arm moving around or something. (if that makes sense) =)
VICTORY, it started working again this morning... it started warming up. Thanks guys and gals.
Nice =)
Try carrying some lock de-icer in your glove box and use it on the nozzle if it happens again. |
(I love the title - how to 'unthaw' - means 'how to freeze' you meant how to 'thaw' which means unfreeze)
peace. I was jus' bussin' on yo.... I am glad it works now. |
Yeah, my wife says that. I tell her to put in the freezer whenever she wants to unthaw something.
