how to hook up a tac on a 02 pro dx??
 

can anybody help me out with hooking up a tac for my car sence the dame thing didnt come with one and i need one so i dont take the chance of blowing my engine causee i cant here it over my stereo?? all help needed....thanks

First of all unless you got turbo or N20, you wont blow the engine even if you redline it hard,it'll just fuel cut...I know, I did it many times....however if you want the tach, tach signal comes from a purple and white wire coming off the obd-ii port next to the firewall driverside under the hood

oh so matter how hard i rev it i wont blow it? it will just cut out how sure are you of that well never mind ill take your word for it so u sure my car has one....o2 pro dx?

er, uh...mine is a 1.6...but the 2.0's fuel cut too...I wouldnt suggest pinging it off the redline in neutral, but under load it just fuel cuts.....but if you wanna race you dont just redline it anyway, you should shift around 5800, because power drops off after that

how am i gonna know to shift when i dont have a tac.....lol

lol well i got one and i installed it kinda cobed but its in i wasnt sure to where to put it sence mu car is a disstributeless car so i put the green wire thats reads the tack rpm's up to me dignostics wireharness which is the the little gray box next to the battery and its working but im still not sure if it is reading correct or not

matty was telling me i should bring it and have it done by a profesional which hes right if your smart youll do that but of course im not and i like fucking with things but hey look what happin when i did it

you don't need a pic...tach signal is the green wire coming off the OBDII plug on the firewall driver side
