how to change a headlight '00 Protege

I haven't posted here in a LONG time, so forgive me mods if this is in the wrong place ..

I have a '00 Mazda Protege and the headlight blew out ... soooo i go to the local walmart and they put in a new headlight .. the other day it was foggy and i realized the headlight was pointing into the sky!!

So i pulled out the headlight to find this weird spring and the light is now just sorta loose in there .... the other light won't really budge and i don't want to force it out..

Can anyone tell me exactly what i'm doing wrong here?! ... how the heck does one change a headlight in a protege?!

Thanks..

You're referring to the bulb right? I'm guessing not the entire assembly?

yeah, just the bulb

so i bit the bullet and pulled out the owners manual .. *gasp* ... and low and behold, theres some directions on how to change the light bulb in the anchient chinese torture device they call a headlamp :)

man .. I really have to say it, "over-engineered" ..

turns out the guy who replaced the bulb snapped the little wire retention thinger from it's mount ... which is why i was confused ... i guess you just unhook the wire and swing it out of the way then pull out the bulb ... well .. imagine my surprise when the wire thinger just fell out ...

so thanks a bunch for attempting to figure out what I was talking about ...

yeah that little wire thing is soooooooooo ghey, i hate it, why not just have it like EVERY other headlight bulb i changed, and have it screw into a bracket.
