hood stone chip

Washed the car (2003 mp5) today to notice 4 small stone chips on the lip of my hood :( its only 2 months old.
Where the chips are i can see black paint, is this the primer?

I picked up the matching mazda touch up paint but it seems runny. Can i apply the touch up paint when its below freezing out?

Im thinking about a magnet bra, how fast do they ship?

thanks

I am not sure about the bra, But I worked at car dealership for awhile and go tto be the king of touch up. Make sure it is shaken real well and use a toothpick or something wiith a small tip, not the brush in the cap. Make sure the area is clean, and do it in a garage. To make it dry faster, use a blowdryer on low (only when the paint is set, not wet) . If it starts do drip, paint thinner will take it off if the pain is still somewhat wet. Also be paitent, the faster you go, the worse it looks.

I have a hood deflector so haven't needed to touch up chips on the hood, but my front bumper has had a few. I don't recall if the Mazda paint bottle mentions this but the touch-up paints I had for previous cars pretty much all said don't use the paint unless it's at least 15 C outside, so I always save my touching-up until the spring. I only use a toothpick to apply the paint, and it sometimes takes more than one touch-up session to even out the chip (let it dry between applications).

Get used to those chips. My hood and front bumper have more than a few. I don't even drive the car that much in the winter. Do a search. Lots of people have bitched about the poor quality of Mazda paint.

I agree the mazda doesn't stand up to stones as good as my previous vehicles. I already broke the fog light lens (still works, bullet like hole), many chips on the bumper and a dent/chip combo on the hood lip. These give me excuses to change upgrade to stuff like a carbon fiber hood and some cool fog lights. But I'm afraid the log truck passing by will do the same thing to them. Can't win.
