Hey guys! New and need winter tires!

Hey guys I am sure you have had this thread posted many times and I appologize for repeating it. But I seriously need some winter tires for the car and cant find any in my price range. I am in canada and really dont want to spend 8-900$ on tires for the car since I am on kinda a budget right now. If any of you can help me out that would be great.

Thanks

P.S. its an `02 Protege 5

I am a big fan of the Yokohama Avid H4s. I had the stock SP5000's they were ok, but didnt last, ten tried the Dunflop FM901's, they weregreat, but loud and lacked wet traction, IM now on Yok's and I love em so far, they seem to be wearing better too.

Hey thanks guys I just picked up some Hankook ice bears about 2 hours ago for $506 all in. I will let you know how I like em.

That's $506.00 CDN I hope!

I just posted a similar question on the tire forum. The guys here in Calgary are trying to push the Hankook Ice Bears on me too, but they don't seem aggressive enough for the harsh winters here and weekly trips to the ski hill, so let me know how you like them. Has anyone ever used 205/55/R16's winters on their Protege? Seems I can find lots of these and good prices but Mazda says they could pop, even though there is only about an inch difference in diameter. Anyone?

Yes Kargoboy that is Canadian. 400$ for the tires 106$ for install and tax.

So far so good on the ice bears. The only thing I notice with them is a little excess road noise. I know what you are talking about with our Canadian winters though skinnywhitemale, I am from Kelowna. We get some nasty snow here too and I lived in Calgary for awhile. They are pretty good on dry pavement as well as wet pavement. Hopefully they will do well in the snow. I took em up on the Coqhuihalla this morning but the roads were pretty clear, its warm today, so I will wait for some snow and go up again in the next few days then let you guys know.
