Help me pick a used Protege? 1999 vs 2003
 

I'm looking to buy a Protege on Craigslist and I've found two ads so far.
One is for a 1999 Protege with 122k on it and the other is for a 2003 Protege with 140k on it.

As you can see, the 1999 model is $900 less than the 2003 model and the mileage is also lower. Normally I'd pick the cheaper one but does the 2003 model have something that is worth the extra $900?

I'd always go for the newer model.

I've had a 1999 Protege ES 1.8 and I currently own a 2002 Protege5. 100% go for the 2003. The motor is larger without giving up any mpg. There are a lot more of the 2.0l (found in the 2003) than the 1.6 or 1.8 in the 99' Protege, making parts cheaper for the 2.0. Plus the 99' is sooo ugly compared to the 2003 !!
