HEadlight problem.
I'm having a problem with my passenger side headlight. The fog lights and high beams are working fine, but the low beam stopped working. This happened a few weeks ago and I just disconnected and reconnected the wires and it fixed it for about a week. Now it stopped again. I didn't change the light because I'm not sure if that's the problem. I figured it couldn't have been burnt out because it started working again
Should I change it or is a connection thing? any idea of the price range for the bulb if I need to change it? Thanks. |
You can try the disconnect/reconnect thing, but I would change it out. Make sure that you change the left side too. It's always good to replace both sides when one side goes bad.
If the light still doesn't work then you have a wiring problem or a bad relay. Prices are across the board, depending on what kind you get. Shop around. |
re
alright, i guess I'll do that. thanks.

Sure, no problem. Let us know how it goes.

$40 for Plasmaglow's bulbs (set of 2). They have a 10 year warranty, can't go wrong with that.

Check for corrosion on the connectors and especially where the lights ground to the chassis first!
Bulbs would be the next step. |
Re:
So I finally got to changning them, only to realize it wasn't the bulb. The socket was burnt onto the little plug thing. Not the one for the bulb, but to the power or whatever. Now I gotta get it from dealer tomorow.
Anyway, I think I might still change my bulbs to silverstars but I'm not sure how they look and if its worth it. I know it's not a substitue for HID's and everything, but anyone have any pics |
Stay away from Sylvania Silverstars. The will burn out six months after you install them. I went through 2 sets of them, and both sets were toast within six months. If you search the forum, you will find others who have had the same experience. I upgraded to Osram Silverstars for my low beams, and they have been great. Been about a year and a half since I installed them, and they are still going strong. I had to order mine from europe though, cause I don't think they sell them any where in N. America.

I called them and asked if I could just buy that part, but they said Mazda only sells the entire wiring harness... for around $600. |
Junkyard! Cut and splice (solder and shrink wrap! ;) )

It was jsut the the bulb into the socket. i had to pry it out. |

Not like those cheap ebay bulbs that are just painted blue. As for the original problem, if the whole assembly is gone, replace it with an HID setup. Prolly get it for under $600, looks alot better, and should last forever. |
