headlight is covered with mists
 

hey guys
I have problem with my driver's side of headlight.
somehow inside of headlight is covered with mists.
and my headlight socket is burned out.
I asked pepboys if they have them, but they told me I have to go to dealer.
help me out, how do I clean the inside of my headlight?
I coudn't figure it out.

This is just a guess, but I think when your bulb blew, it probably sprayed something (carbon etc) on the inside of your headlight. Since our headlights are sealed you can't clean it. Take it to the dealership and have it replaced under warrenty.

my bulb is fine, it's just a plastic headlight socket for low beam.
what about those who painted in black with their headlight?
since my car's mileage is 35000, i don't think my dealer will fix this mess for under warranty.

what has happened...is since that ring you mention is blown out...your headlight housing is now NOT sealed...and moisture is getting inside it....what you need to do is go get the part that is now broken......then get a hair dryer and dry out your headlight housing by warming it up from the outside with the hair dryer....then installing the new part so that your headlight housing will once again be sealed.....then your moisture problem will go away.

Ah sorry, I misunderstood. I thought you blew a bulb. I think Nuke has the correct diagosis.

I understand the parts about hair dryer but...don't understand what u meant by ring. :p
do you know how much dealer will charge for headlight socket?

Hey! What's up! Oh no, not another headlight problem (smirk). I ended up switching back to 55watt bulbs because my driver ended up going out (no blown) and kinda melted the socket wire harness connector. I replaced it with a custom thing I did from Auto Zone. Looks great and works soooo much better. If you want, you can swing by the house again and we can have a look at it.

Hey! Yeah, the socket was $3.00 from autozone. I just cut the old socket off, spliced the new one on and wala! I took it a step further by integrating (via electrical tape) the new socket to the bulb adapter so it is one piece. Much easier of an install and cleaner looking. I need to get another one to do the passenger side so it matches. Other than that, it looks great!

yes the socket...or whatever part it was you have that is broken on your headlight

Dude - your car is warranteed for 50,000 miles. If this socket mishap was NOT due to anything you did, it'll be fully covered by warranty.

If you changed the bulbs or something (especially to some super-watt thing) it probably won't be covered. But if it spontaneously melted or broke, I would definitely go to the dealer and get it fixed under warranty - including a full new headlight, if they'll swing it for you. Moisture in the light is no good.

Yah, have the deal do it. I broke a stud putting on a rim and just drove over to the dealer and had it fixed. all covered.
