Fuel additives
 

Are those things that you add in your gas tank before fill up worth it? Do they really work? I think they're supposed to clean your injectors but I heard that it's just something for those who produce them to make money. What's the real deal on this?

the only fuel additives I'd recommend are "BG's 44K" to clean the fuel system (AFTER you've got a clean filter in...) and 100% pure Xylene when you wanna add a lot of boost or need more octane. Other than that they are a waste as far as I'm concerned.

I've started t use CV100 on every full up. I just put it in today so I still have to see how good it is.

i put a bit of elf 103RON racing fuel into my car...

WOW... heehhehe

i tried some octane booster one... did nothing to my car LOL... what a waste of $20... haha

www.exp4additives.com I have used this a few times in my 3 and IMO have noticed a good difference in both acceleration and few mileage as well.:)

no fuel additive will increase your acceleration nor increase your mileage any significant amount. Engines are designed and ecu's are tuned to run on the fuel mentioned. Octane boosters and things like that won't do anything but dilute your fuel. Maybe they'll help remove carbon build-up and what not but nothing that is noticeable by either racing or seat-of-the-pants testing.

I trust your knowledge but after using the exp4 fuel additive I noticed a 2-3 mpg difference and with the gas prices these days I'll take it. I don't know how exactly it works but IMO it works.

There are so many variables when it comes to mileage it's almost impossible to know with any certainty if what you've added is the cause for the change.

weather, tire pressure, vehicle weight, ac usage, road surface condition, driver, engine mileage, wind direction, fuel brand,etc etc etc.

What I do to get it as close as possible is to leave my AC off, drive the same roads, obey the speed limits at all times, make sure tires are properly inflated and that I fill up at the same station everytime. Then I record how many miles I got on that one tank. Then I do this over and over and average out the numbers. It's such a crap shoot though. It's so hard to replicate identical driving situations unless your car is on an engine dyno everything is going to be different.

I can see the fuel additives working. It helps with the combustion in the chamber so that you use your fuel better. Thats were you get the incease in MPG. But you do have to watch what you put in there. Alot of these so called additives are just carosine (?) and if you use it to much will burn your rings and seals over time.

factor in the cost of the additive with the money you MAY have saved in fuel economy, and I bet it averages out

your better off checking tire pressures, alignment,watching your speed, and making sure you have a clean air filter and properly gapped spark plugs

fuel additives are mostly snake oil

I started usin' cv100 and it gives me a better throttle response. I don't really care much for being fuel effecient.
