Floor Mat emblems
 

I generally consider myself a detailing Guru, but I have yet to find a good way to clean the embroidered "Protege" emblems on the front floormats. Mine have pretty much gotten trashed thanks to Old Man Winter. Any suggestions?

use a good stain remover and a power washer like the ones at a do it yourself car wash. i have seen good results with this:blue:

believe it or not this works......

TOOTHPASTE! yep you heard me....use some REGULAR toothpaste and an OLD toothbrush....use the normal PASTE type whitening toothpaste....put it on the brush....scrub your logo really really good.....hose it off...let it dry.....

also use a brand that doesn't have EXTRA little specks of anything in it....and don't use a brand that its paste is some color...other than a VERY pale blueish....like crest. it will actually add to the whitening effect....yes I know our emblems are silver....

Bleach white
 

We used to use Westlies bleach whitefor all interior stuff.. My dad bought some seats at the junk yard that had some grease from a Drive Axel that was put in the seat. He questioned that person, thinking it would bleach out the black seats. The man said that the junk yards use this product to remove grease from all seats and all interior parts. He tried it at home and it worked great. You can get it a the home depot and even the grocery store.

And speaking of Westlies Bleach White, if you happen to be a fan of Raised White Letter tires....or actually have some other car with White Walls on it.....or maybe your parents do.....you will find NO OTHER product that will clean them like this stuff will....spray it on...let it set for a short time and hose it off....and like Mazdaman even said....you can usually even find it at the grocery store! its been around for a long time.....obviously because it works so well.

Another hint from "Car and Driver" (I think):

Flip your floormats over in the winter to protect the carpet. If they don't fit quite right, you can switch the passenger with the driver's side. Just a tip for keepin' 'em clean once you "brush their teeth". :p

Some asshole I work with (yes I am in the Air Force) got a flat and he tried to steal a tire from some other car. He got caught but the cops let him go as long as he signed the agreement to be in court. Any way I took him and his fix a flat filled donut to the gas station to get air in it. Why he couldn't do this before trying to steal a good tire I'll never know. Well I had no room in the back So I tell him to put it in the floorboard of the back seat. Now I have fix-a-flat all over my floor mat? Any ideas on how to remove it?

I have but ONE suggestion....GOO GONE.....yep you heard me right....this stuff is called GOO GONE....its by the MAGIC AMERICAN CORPORATION....this stuffl will remove chewing gum, grease, tar, asphalt, sticker/tape/lable residue, oil, BLOOD, lipstick, shoe polish fresh paint, crayon and just about anything else from carpets, hair, upholstery, clothing, tile, grills, hands, and vinyl....

I found it at Wally World some time ago....some a$$ wipe had gum on their shoe and was so kind as to deposite it in MY car....this stuff took it right out with just a little work...I was amazed.

Tonight when I get off work Im going to the walmart. I need to wash the car but I need a sponge. Sponges don't scratch the car do they? Gonna try Cheer detergent on the floormat if that don't work gonna get that goo gone stuff. I have heard of it before never needed it though.

get a wash mit, or one of the sponges that is covered in terry. Don't put the mit of sponge on the ground as it will pick up debris that will scratch the car.

Couldn't find goo-gone at the Wally world. but I got some "Tuff Stuff" That worked great. Also I made it rain... got the car sparkling clean at the car wash last night. This morning its pouring down rain.

well there was a whole list of other places...but at least you found something that got it out.....good to hear your baby got all cleaned up...

now just think...if it didn't rain...and you didn't get it dirty...you wouldn't be able to pamper your baby like you should would you? at least you wouldn't have as good a reason to anyway! lol :D
