Exhaust rubbing!
I have a Greddy exhaust on my pro now and i just installed kartboy hangers. they're verrry sturdy but now it's like it's rubbing on the bottom of the car and making vibration noises that make me think it was bad before and maybe even worse now. It was bumping with the factory hangers so it made sense to install. Any suggestions about my situation now?

have you taken a good look around under the car to see whats rubb'n? installed kartboy hangers on mine w/ no issues... well... not "many" issues.. haha. my muffler had been mounted different from stock, had to do some weld'n for 1 hanger.

There is nothing out of the ordinary i think. Where it was originally bumping before kb hangers, i believe that is where it is rubbing and vibrating now...

You are going to need to pinpoint where the rubbing noise is coming from.
You mention you have a 'Pro'--you mean the P5 hatch, right? 'Cuz the Greddy is not made for a sedan to my knowledge. |
Well actually the greddy setup i have is mostly made for '02 and up proteges (sedans). It's a true cat-back for those cars but mine only has one cat and later models have two. Besides that, i did the research and the piping, bends matched my factory exhaust. It just rubs a bit right before where it bends up towards the axle. All i want is a suggestion for a quick fix but a good fix.

I forgot, Greddy makes an exhaust for the "MSP", so yeah, it'd fit a sedan.

I figured out I'll just play it by ear and put some type of sleeve around that part of it with fire-proof material to kind of insulate the sound...

Adjust (bend) the hangers.

The metal hangers that come off of the exhaust. The ones that you attach the KB hangers to, bend 'em. ;)
You may need to heat them up first. |
Okay so melt and bend the ones attached to the muffler only, right? Sounds like that could work! You don't think some sort of sleeve would be an alternative cuz once they're bent, i might not be able to go back and possibly be worse off...

Step one figure which metal peice to bend and how much/what direction.
Heat (not melt) with a torch and apply pressure. (If you don't have one - a exhaust shop could do this) |

Nope. Gotta' keep bending. A sleeve will just have the exhaust vibes through the car.

Jackelope: Do not try and bend the hangers. That's impossible. Instead... only try to realize the truth.
mazdabel: What truth? Jackelope: There is no hanger. mazdabel: There is no hanger? Jackelope: Then you'll see, that it is not the hanger that bends, it is only yourself. ^ sorry, was bored... |
