dyno numbers on P5

ok i dynoed my P5 today. its a 2002.5 and is completly stock except i took off all that extra plastic on the intake and for the dyno i took out the air filter. the rest is stock. i don't have a scanner so i have to just say the numbers but i put down 103.8hp and 111.7 ft/lbs. i plan on running up to mazcare this week to try out their exhaust and see what it does but atleast i have base numbers. not bad though for a completly stock motor on pump gas. i almost kicked some litle shits ass though when he started talking shit about my ride and saying it was a waste of money, but i think i got it straightened out;) .

i got my car ran today on a dynojet and was wondering what kinda dyno you used. with my injen intake, babatech exaust, and denso iridiun plugs i put down 103.8 hp and 116 max torque.

i used a dynojet. i like your tq gains. is your car an automatic or a manual. its weird that i made same hp numbers stock as you did wiht those mods unless you have an auto then it makes sense

well vibrants car DID have a filter on it ya know

Sledgehammer Jul 10, 2002 09:40 AM

Lupus, those numbers are impressive - especially the torque. I'm assuming they are corrected at the wheel numbers? For comparison sake, Sport Compact Car dynoed a 02 Miata @ 112hp/105ftlbs, so yours sound about right.

vibrantvivid Jul 10, 2002 11:25 AM

mine is a manuale transmission. how many miles are on your car? i had 3740 miles when i dynod it yesterday morning. ohh also did you do a basline run completely stock with the intake in place and intact like the factory?

I believe Import Tuner or Super Street did a whole Intake Dyno thing, they dynoed sever "Home Depot" Intakes most were VERY shitty but they worked on the HP, then they dynoed the car with NOTHING connected to the Throttle Body, did they get the most horsepower this way? HELL YEAH, but is it safe for the motor? FUCK NO. So this is why you got the same amount of HP as Vibrant, yet, do you drive your car all the time without the Filter on it? I hope not, cuz youre car wont be driving for long.

i remember that issue of super street. that was dope they used a nylon panyhose or something like that on a hacked up 2 liter bottle as a filter. sweet!

Does anyone know exactly what issue that was? I'd like to get a backorder of it.

I heard that the August issue of Turbo mag has a Protege w dyno stats. I went to buy the mag at a bookstore and can't find it. I am curious to see the stats and what was being used. If anybody has this issue could you scan the article for me.
thanks

no shit running with the filter off is bad for the motor. the fact is even with the resonator off its not going to be close to not having any intake at all. oh well what do i know about cars anyways. when i dynoed with the filter on(my second pull, third was with no filter) i made a 102.xxhp and same tq. yes i am impressed and i need to dyno again with all my shit in my car i got now ex. mild cams from sunbelt, exhaust and soon to be injen intake

vibrantvivid Jul 11, 2002 10:51 AM

sunbelt is offering their products to the public already?sweet.

lupus Jul 11, 2002 12:32 PM

no sunbelt is not offering their products to the public yet. i live near sunbelt and i am testing out their cams for them.

Sil_Pro5 Jul 12, 2002 10:23 AM

yes the newest turbo mag (I think) has the dyno in there. ill go today and buy it and scan it for everyone. someone just needs to give me a free place to post the pics from though!
