Door drain holes

Please don't laught...

I took delivery of my Protege LX last week and noticed that the drain holes at the bottom of the front doors have plastic covers. Back doors' drain holes are wide open.

I first thought that this is something dealer forgot to remove during PDI. I called them but they had no idea what I was talking about.

Anyone have seen this?

DO NOT remove the plastic plugs.....for they are not plugs at all. After reading this I went directly to the garage and looked at mine....they are there...but mine aren't black...they are white...but the center is black...and I noticed the black part was a seperate piece....and it was soft....I poked at it with my finger and realized it was sorta hinged at the top....I lifted it up and you can see their is a path directly into the door....THIS plastic piece inserted into the drain hole is in fact a device to keep debris from getting up into the drain hole...but will allow your door to drain...its commonly refered to as a check valve.

Thanks Sir Nuke, that makes sense.

Can you explain why back doors don't have them?

Yea, why doesnt the back doors have them? I noticed this a couple of weeks ago when I was detailing my car. I thought it was odd that they didnt have them in the back. Anyone know why?

Why not in the back doors? well that part I have NO idea about....Just know what the little suckers are that are in the front doors....

maybe has something to do with the fronts being closer to the front wheels and in a path to have dirt and water shot under the door...and potentially plug up the drain holes from the outside in...you know...for those goofy people that don't know how to properly take care of their ride. I think you would be surprised at just how many people have NO IDEA that there is even a drain hole in their door! lol
