do you guys know about nankang tires?
 

how good is this brand of tire?
apparently alot of cars here use that brand. maybe because it's readily available here and that tire dealers say it's a good brand but how many of you have heard of this brand?

I have had them. And would buy them again.
There very grippy, the only problem is there summer only! No exeptions, the slighest snow will end you. They also wear alot but thats part of being grippy.

It's a taiwanese company. I haven't seen any NanKang passenger tires here. I've seen NanKang utility tires for trailers and what not, so I'm sure they have a diverse product line, including summer tires and all-season passenger tires. Not that you'd be worried about snow in Trinidad.

My .02: I've read good reviews about Nankang Performance tires. Very grippy, tread wear about what you'd expect from a soft tire, and slightly less expensive than
Yoks, Kumhos &tc...

i've never used them but figured they were junk because they are the tire of choice for those fly-by-night tire/wheel companies who are always trying to save a buck no matter where they cut corners.

hmmm...it's about 50/50 here on how good these tires are. they really are cheaper than the yoks and the kumhos but i don't mind spending a little more for better quality tires.

and i definitely won't need to worry about snow here.
it's mostly summer here throughout the year. the wet season usually comes in around september/october and lasts till about december/january.

the nankangs i'm gettin' are about $400US for a set of 4, 215/40/17. treadwear is at 350, performance tire so it would be softer than other passenger tires.

I think it depends on the tire. I had the ns1's which were amazing, it felt like I could take any turn, even in the rain, they gave me great confidence.

A friend of mine did NS2's on his 6, they are less grippy and more of an all season tire. They also last alot longer.

Either way no road noise like the kumhos.

well that sounds good to me. i'm not buyin' tires right now though. maybe sometime late august.
so depending on what i hear from now till then, who knows, i may go with something different.

I've been using Nankangs for about 25k miles. My P5 rides like it's on rails when the weather is warm. They don't grip as good when it's below 35 or 40°F, but then you won't have that problem. I'm probably going to get them again.
