cutting off the damned driver side door lock

OK,

I haven't gotten delivery of my '03 ES yet. I'm driving around a stripped auto '02 LX right now (which is alright, except that it's auto). The dealer promised to give me a loaner once I sold my existing car ('93 Sentra SE-R last weekend :() One nitpick with the vehicle.... I never realized how much I like propping my arm up on the door, especially at stoplights. I'm thinking when my '03 ES finally gets here (at least a month after ordering it  ) The first thing I'm going to do is cut that unlock/lock nub off (at least so it's flush when it's locked). I'm going to have keyless entry anyway so why would I need it??

Anyone ever done this? Is this piece metal covered with plastic or just plastic? Is it possible to tastefully saw and round it off?

Much thanks. Looking forward to officially joining your ranks really soon. :D

OK, I found it. Stocker, you're the man.

Regarding safety issues.... if the car lands in the water, it's going to hard to unlock and open the door anyway. So I'll just break the window with my baton and crawl/swim out. :)

actually....all you have to do is be calm.....and allow the car to fill up with water and the doors are easy to open....once the lock is unlocked. :{D

I recently took my door panels off to do a speaker upgrade...and the little metal rod that in on the button...all you have to do is measure how much you need to shorten the button...and cut that much off the metal rod, thread the end of it...and put the button back on...and everything is fine and dandy.
