Crappy Heater

Im in Balmy Massachusetts, and I noticed that the heat takes FOREVER to get to a finger-thawing temp. Seems as if it gets warm just as Im getting to where Im going! Anyone else experiencing this???

I'm in Calgary, Canada and find that the heater warms up in 5-10 mins under light driving.

BTW, Bruins rule!!

:D

Yeah, Im not exactly thrilled with the performance of my Ptoteges heater, and I live in GA.

Definately not one of the cars strong points.

The heater warms up pretty quick for me. About 5-10 mins and it's already as hot as it can get. I live in Florida though, so our "cold" days are in the 30s.

It was -25 here today. I let the car warm up for about 5 minutes before I drove it today, and about 5 min after that it was fine. I also stood out in the blowing cold in the middle of a lake ice fishing today. The car had been running for over an hour, but because of the wind it was dead cold when I started it when we came off the lake and by the time we got our gear in the trunk and drove for a couple minutes it was fine.

My heat seems pretty fine for me also. It takes about 5-10mins, but it could be better.

Plug your car in...block heaters are great for getting things toasty in no time once you're on the road.

Or, you could just move further south. The low here last night was 63F (17C). :D

Actually Iīve had the car for three years, and I donīt even know if the heater still works. I canīt remember the last time I used it.

How much do engine block heaters cost? My heat sucks butt!

On some days I've noticed this heater problem also. I've noticed this the other day coming back from skiing.

I'm with you on this one...the heater is much slower that any other cars I've had. (Prelude, Golf, Avenger). As well, the driver side window fogs up often and its a bitch to clear. And that fan; its so loud at "2" or higher.

However, it has been REALLY cold lately...I still love my P5

today and yesterday its been -35-40 degrees celcius here! When I start up my car the vents rattle for a bit and today they were making a crazy screeching noise! I'm wondering if its the cold or if there is something really wrong!?

Its probably just the cold. My car makes some pretty weird noises when I first start it in the morning.

lol kool. It gave me a heartattack. It sounded like a eagle getting murdered or something!

MSRP is $30 plus an hour to install. However, they do stick a plug through your grill and then it just hangs there. It would mess up the look of your car. I have mine hidden behind my front plate holder so nobody can see it. I can't tell you how well it works though because I park in a garage.

Block Heaters! Wow, that brings back memories. I lived in Kapuskasing Ontario (look way up north in the road atlas). You had to have a block heater or forget about starting your car. Everyone drove around with an extension cord wrapped around their side mirror so the could just plug in when they parked.

No need for block heaters in balmy Tennessee though. I have not noticed any heater problems in my P5. Seems to work ok for me.
