Cracked windshield and Mazda warranties

It was -0.4 degrees this morning on my commute to work. I get near the campus, and going down one of the alleyways with no one in front of me, my windshield gets a foot-long crack right in front of me due to the wind chill.

Now I purchased the car used, with a tiny chip in the windshield that the dealership told me that I had nothing to worry about.

Now they're telling me in the department that the warranty will not cover a windshield. I don't understand why.

Anyone else here had a similar problem? Do I need to talk to my sales rep?

Well...unfortunately on used cars they usually make you sign the "as is" disclaimer and you're pretty much screwed.

Good luck!

The exact same thing happene to my brand new 3S....the first night it dropped below freezing my wife's windhsield split. We took into the dealership and they said they dont warranty windshields because something could've hit it and I was trying to rip them off.....

So I took a dump on their floor and left.

will someone please remind me why I've bought 3 new mazdas in 3 years?!?!

Your insurance doesnt cover windshields ??? Damn I love Florida ! 0 Deductible as long as the crack is over 8 inches on the windshield

Roddimus Prime December-20th-2004 02:10 PM

my deductible is $500 and the new windhsield cost me $281 installed....If I had the additonal coverage it would've been free but I wasn't told about it by my agent....we have it now! it's $1/month

Mine is also $500. However, I called my insurance and they found a local company that will replace my windshield at my house for $174 installed. So tomorrow morning, my Mazda gets a new piece of aaahh..I mean, glass.

Thanks for your input. You guys are great!

Dont think you understand...in Florida glass replacement is a $0 deductible on all policies, as it is covered by the state, regardless of what your normal policy deductible is. My deductible on my policy is $250, but if I break my windshield it costs me nothing

Roddimus Prime December-20th-2004 03:24 PM

wow....how is that possible??

macdaddyslomo December-20th-2004 04:45 PM

State covers it, as it is considered unsafe and illegal to drive with a cracked windsheild, but also the state severly limits liability on suing guys who drive rock trucks which break windsheilds on a regular basis
