Corksport PS Exhaust fitment issues

I have the Corksport PS exhaust and it comes too low and touches the crossmember near the oil pan. (can't remember if it's in front of the oil pan or behind.) Anyways it makes for a quite annoying vibration around the 2600-2700 rmp range. Also getting ready to put in the OBX header. Anyone know if this allows for more clearance, less clearance, or the same. Any other ideas?

I wouldn't worry about the rattling until after the header is installed. The header is going to change the angles of the exhaust anyway, so from there you can adjust the bolts as necessary.

if it still rubs after the install of the header, there is always the GT Spec crossmember replacement. it's a tubular design and works with the ladder bar and is great for stiffening up the chassis.

2nd time I've had to change your thread titles dude, this is a warning...future titles that are totally non descriptive like this will be deleted

Pardon me, mac... it's a habit from the "other site"
Over there you have to make it ambiguous and catchy or it gets lost in the 400 million useless threads. I'll try not to let it happen again.

Corksport's site states specifically not to install the GT spec ladder bar in conjunction with the power series exhaust. I'm reasonably sure the ladder bar is the piece that replaces the crossmember i'm talking about. (It's the wide, flat one that i think is right behind the oil pan.) Anyone have the GT spec stuff and know for sure?

The GT spec 4-point ladder replaces the one right behind the control arms in the middle...so yes I'm pretty sure you are thinking of the right one. It only has 4 bolts, so take a look next time you're under there. If I recall correctly, the 4-point ladder bar actually comes a little lower than the stock piece...don't remember though for sure, I installed it long time ago.

since the ladder won't fitwith the corksport exhaust, just get this thing:

it can be found at corksport for $125.

Hey dude, I installed the Corksport exhaust in about 30 mins with the help of a friend. We had no clearance problems at all. What kind of Protege did you try to install this on???

FC3s Boy December-23rd-2004 11:23 AM

you can bend the hangers how you want them once you get the header on

i helped protito install this and there was no bending at all. just bolted it up and put the exhaust hangers on and viola!
