computer-speedomer-consumptionmeter
do not know right name for it , but many cars have it installed as option. It is showing for example: immediate consumption, daily averege consumption, total averega , sometimes speed etc. Back in Europe have had it a lots of middle priced cars.
- Is it possible to buy and install it here in North America ? - what are possible brands, prices? I did a search on Internet, but as I do not know the right name of "thing", it is really hard. Any advice appreciated in advance. Pampusik |

I knew that I saw it in 626 back in Europe, .but is it possible to buy some and install it in my Protege . It was quite helpfull in my Skoda Octavia. Immediate consuption can be helpfull to teach you drive economicaly. With VW 1.9 TDi engine inside , I had average consumption 5.4 l/100 km. I can only dream about it with my Protege 1.8 ( just recently apx. 10.6 l/100 km - 24US miles/galon )
When I searching for onboard computer on Google - mostly (95%) it looks like articles about ECU |
an immediate consumption meter (like the older bmws have) is nothing more than a vaccuum guage with mpg (or kpl?) on the face instead of inhg. you can install a basic vaccuum guage and when you are pulling the most vaccuum you at the lowest consumption. you adjust your driving style to adjust the vaccuum.
