Canadians: what did you pay for you P5?

I'd like to know how much dealers can deal on these things. I saw American invoice and MSRP and there appears to be a 9.8% markup. Higher than I thought for such an inexpensive car. The one I want stickers for 22,590. Is it reasonable to ask for $2k off? $1k for sure.

What did you pay and what options do you have? Thanks.

I got mine for $21300 with A/C and sunroof in June. Apply to that $750 graduate rebate and It'll come to $20550.

Not bad. That's about $1200 off. How do you like your Racing Beat springs? How much, how hard to put in and how much did it lower it?

Nah, I like my name. I'd get it as my license plate if they approved it :p

i payed about 26k, but the car was fully loaded....i put 3k down and got 5.9% financing and $450 a month

PR5 weren't as hot in June. Or maybe honest car salesman? Not to confuse you, taxes and all charges were extra, but that still not bad.
Car is lowered 0.75" all around. RB been discussed in the past, do search.
Installing is not difficult if you know how to work with wrenches and aware of safety precautions, I did it myself in 3 hours.
I like them because ride is almost as stock and there's enough suspension travel to absorb bigger bumps.

Yup that is what I paid, (same options, with grad rebate) for interest sake, that is $50 cheaper than the Ford X plan. Which if I remember correctly is 1% below dealer invoice)

According to www.carcostcanada.com when I checked a couple of weeks ago, there's a $1566 difference between dealer cost and MSRP (dealer cost on a P5, stick/metallic/air/roof is $20,234; list $21,800).

I ended up paying $21,500 for that car including tape deck, trunk tray and hood deflector (about $450 in accessories). Decent enough deal for me.

Wow, sounds like you scored an awesome deal! The dealer put all those options in for you? Is there somehere I can see the Monsterflow? That leather is worth about $1K I would say!

Ya, it pays to know a few people. One of the dealers here in Calgary sells it as a GTR (first thing to go was the logo) They have been doing it with Miatas for some time now. The leather is awsome! Its a dark royalblue. Also a came with a Momo Aluminium shift knob.

I'd recomend the MonsterFlow to anyone. Neufiep5 has pictures on his web site. http://www.mazdaprotege5.com/

Thanks, I checked it out. Not a big fan of foam filters though. I think I like the AEM intake better IMO.

Me either up till the time I used the MonsterFlow. Good reviews compared to the K&N on the Miata web sites, and others. Also uses a tacktifing agent to filter small dust particals like the oil on the K&N. But I haven't tried any of the others so I can't comment on them.

Best of luck either way.

nightowl.....you paid $26,000 canadian? YOU GOT SO RIPPED OFF! I dont have a P5, i have a 2002 ES/GT. So min sis fully loaded(sunroof/spoiler/16'rims/air conditioning/power everything) and i paid $20,000.......im sorry man, that dealership saw you coming!:(

SUX 2BU February-27th-2002 10:40 AM

That was probably (at least I hope so) with taxes in. We pay 14.5% tax here so if I can get one for $22k, I'm looking at $25,190 after tax.

I got a few quotes in: $22,590 (MSRP) , $22,395 and $22,150. And these are just email "internet pricing" quotes. I expect to about $500 less so around $21,700 or so.

Raptor February-27th-2002 10:56 AM

I have a 01 ES/GT
and with everything including taxes and financing, the car will cost me 23 900$. Pretty decent I think. I'm finacing over 3 years.
