Can anyone help me?

Lately I've been having touble with my protege Starting and possible temperature problems. First off... Starting up in cold weather. It would Start and then I'd get a really rough idle for about 4 - 5 secs then it dies. I usually hear a kick back out of the CAI, Which is wierd to me because I thought those things were one way...? As well My temperature guage never goes up to a normal temperature, It just Stays down there at the bottom of the "C". And I get very little heat out of the heater... That thing used to burn me on High. Now I'll be lucky if I can't see my breath after an hour or so of driving. As well I have this sputter problem. It's almost like my car used to have a powerband sort of like a 2 stroke. After a certain RPM (I don't know which... NO Tach.) Something would kick in and WAM I was off like a rocket. Now when I hit that mark my car just slows down, sorta like it's bogging. I tried replacing the Thermostat and the temperature guage sender and the spark plugs, and the coilpacks. Now the car does remain started when starting. I still get the rough idle until I hit the gas once or twice then it idles normal. It still boggs after a certain rpm. And I am still getting no heat and the temperature guage only moves off of cold after I have driven around for a while and then park for a few mins. Ofcourse it gets warmer inside the car too. But as soon as I take off the temperature goes back down and the heater gets cold again. I noticed that when I unplug the Temperature Guage sender and drive I get my so called powerband back. I really don't know what else to do with this car. I love my Ge but I don't really have the cash for another engine swap. Can anyone out there help me?!

Thanks for your post however, this does not seem to be the problem.

could it be a partially clogged heater core, that could explain the cabin heat problem. as far as to bogging down at a certain rpm... hmm. thats would need further research i suppose.

What engine? If its the 1.6 it could be the maf. Mine acted similarly when my maf whent no power at all down low or up high and at a certin rpm it was like hitting a brick wall.

When the maf goes the car just runs as rich as possible hence why the car doesnt heat up. My car runs fine, but there are really cold days when if im at a light the car with the heater way up the car will actually drop to cold by the time the light turns green.

It very well could be my MAF. I do have a 1.6L with about 158,000Mi on it. I am actually on my 3rd Maf since having the car. I changed it out at 70,000mi and at 140,000mi I wouldn't be suprised if it has gone bad again. I did get the maf directly from mazda both times although I didn't make the warranty coverage for the maf recall. I'll see what happens... Thanks for your post. By the way, My temperature goes up when I'm stopped, but never higher than it should be normally. As soon as I take off though, right back down to cold.

I checked the codes in the system and got these out... What can I do?

P0102 Mass or Volume Air Flow Circuit Low Input
P0108 Manifold Absolute Pressure/Barometric Pressure Circuit High Input
P0113 Intake Air Temperature Circuit High Input
P0171 System too Lean (Bank 1)

temp prob almost seems like someone took out your thermostat....please be more descriptive in the future on your thread titles or they will be deleted
