Best Bang for Your Buck
Hey its me again. I have a 2000 Lx with a 1.8 L and already have an SRI intake (ebay all the way!) and i was jsut wondering what would be the best thing I culd put on for a couple hundred bucks (like under $400) that would give me the most gain.
Thanks again |
anything other than turbo is a waste IMO
|
New Wagner stage II cams are about that price. Best mod by far, short of a turbo.
|
Not for HP but if you have a standard, adding a short shifter is a big improvement for driving pleasure.
|
A cat-back will give you a couple of Horse-Pressures for about that much green.

I've dreamed about a turbo. And ofcourse I have a manual, with an engine this small I don't know what i'd do with an automatic. My dad has a nissam with the VQ V6 with like 265 hp, but its an automatic and feels slow. I'm trying to save up for a turbo too but its gonna take a wihle. I've got 6 more years of school until I can get a real job. WHen that happenes I'm gonna go crazy probably to a mazda3 or maybe a 6.

sweet!
how much all that run you? |
roughly $3800...not including installation.
yeah, i could have bought a turbo with that...but the wife would notice $4K taken out of the checking account...she hasn't noticed me nickel and diming it over the past year. however, she has given me the ok to save up for a turbo. i'm trying to decide if i want to go turbo or up my compression....hmmm...decisions, decisions. |
I definitely like the pics Topher, the deletion of the mazda emblem is definitely different. Was that difficult to accomplish?
and 1.8 L coils.. are those ignition coils or suspension? |
The emblem wasn't just removed, the whole grill was replaced witht the AutoExe style grill. The coils refer to ignition coils, on the 2.0 you can only swap out 2 of the plug wires because the other 2 are built into the coils, but on the 1.8L you can swap all 4.
|
not only that...but they also smooth out the powerband...and they're the same coils tripoint runs on their cars.
and yes, that is a whole new grill. i am going to sell my mintblue eyelines if anyone's interested. |
